How the strawberry float have they not fixed this? :dread: I can't aim properly at all. I'm sure I'll get used to it but why on earth is it like this in the first place? It's like there's a massive deadzone in the sticks or something. It actually reminds me of playing a PS3 shooter with those awful analogues that had a similar deadzone problem. I keep over-aiming.

Me and Dino did warn you

It's not a deadzone problem, patched on PS4 it's fine, although I feel like they kind of balanced the combat with the delay in mind, because I'm playing on hard and combat is super easy.

I know, it's a latency issue, but it feels like there's a massive deadzone similar to the PS3, is my point.

It was really noticeable when I played the XB1 version. Didn't ruin the game or anything but it was quite annoying, especially during combat.

It's just as bad milner, its instantly apparent during the very first scene which is, surprise surprise, forced walking.

It's almost game-breaking during the QTE events.

What a load of gooseberry fool this game is.

I just ran up to two guys and melle-killed one with my crossbow, the other just stood there pouring his gun at me waiting for the animation to finish before firing.

Apparently I get a trophy for mellee attacking with a bottle, well that'd be nice if I could actually do it! Skill trees :fp:

So, you can sit firing arrows at these guys all day as long as you keep missing. As soon as you kill one with a headshot everyone in the area instantly knows where you are as if by magic?

This is a 2016 game, right? A 2016 game where some reviewers saw fit to award it 9 or above

While I wouldn't be as critical as you, I have had the AI just stand point their gun at me while I murder their friend multiple times already. It's really bad. It reminds me of this.

I've only played about 2 and a half hours so far but this is such an average game. A huge step-down from the last one.

Yeah, I mentioned it in my review in 'Last Game You Finished...' but the combat really is shocking. Which is why it's so surprising that they focus such a large amount of the game on it.

It's easier to pad the game out with AI and battles in certain set places than create a vast area to explore that would pad the game out similarly so its not surprising really. I agree though that the platforming/exploration parts are far better though.

Remember when this series was about exploring caves and solving puzzles 'n gooseberry fool? Those were good times weren't they? At least I think they were. They were a lot better than this, that's for sure.

My enthusiasm for this game has fallen off a cliff in the last two hours of it that I played. Terrible combat, terrible AI, terrible characters, terrible story, an AWFUL bad guy and stupidly OTT sequences where everything is spectacularly falling apart around you. There's very little that I'm actually enjoying.

When you're left alone in a semi-open world area and allowed to explore and find tombs, it's quite fun. This is what the game should be about; exploration, Metroidvania-esque progress, ACTUAL strawberry floating tomb raiding! Why are the tombs in a game called Tomb Raider optional & hidden away from the main game for you to seek out? They should be the strawberry floating focus! Not that the game lets you forget about them of course with the frequent reminders about there being one nearby. Lord knows I couldn't be trusted to find anything on my own. The game has to tell you where to go, what to do & what you need at all times. A constant barrage of information on the HUD about challenges, XP, and all manner of gooseberry fool. It never lets you alone to just get on with it. And why can't I cut a rope with my ice climbing sickles of doom? I can bludgeon half a village worth of humans and skin animals, but I need a dagger to cut this rope?!

You know what, strawberry float it. 4/10. strawberry floating done.

I'm only half way through Siberia but I'm inclined to agree.

I'd knock a whole point off purely for modern Lara being an awful character. When she's sat at the camp talking to herself I wish she'd just die.

The series needs another break and a reboot.

I've not played this one, but all the complaints I've seen can be applied to the game before it.

It's why I enjoyed underworld. It had a lot of gunplay, but the tombs were so detailed and colourful and varied. And some hard as nails puzzels in some bits too!

Underworld.

I liked a lot of Tomb Raider, and Rise has its moments but it's clear they've moved away from the roots of the series now and into something more 'fashionable', which is such a shame.

Started playing this yesterday and I'm enjoying it so far, looks very pretty. Far too linear though, I really want to explore the ice bit before the bear, but I picked up an item and it just told me where every hidden thing was. Also one guy spotted me, I broke line of sight but then every other person in the area knew what bush I was hiding in.

Coming to this after Dishonored and Mankind Divided is a really odd experience. Production value wise, this game is nuts. It looks absolutely amazing and the set pieces are stupidly huge. But as everyone else has said, the combat is rubbish, the characters and story annoying (especially Lara, who is duller than ever) and the gameplay is so tilted towards the aforementioned terrible fighting that I'm rapidly losing interest. Oh well.

I didn't have any problem with the combat, it's miles better than Uncharted 1-3 and they are pretty well regarded.

But it's more metroidy than the first game...

The game never stops you from exploring, you can always use camp fires to warp around the map and look for stuff.

Kinda odd how you moan that it doesn't let you explore but then say you wish it told you where things were, seems a bit contradictory.

The game has a lot of metroidvania progress too.

Not really sure why you don't like the game. Probably because you got it on Xbox where the input lag makes it feel awful.

Maybe you could point out what I misunderstood instead of making a pointless post like that.

EDIT: Looks like I missed a bit of sarcasm, fair enough.
