I am not a fan of the royals, but it is beyond me why people get so worked up by them (on both sides!).

All those nutters waiting outside the hospital for news of William's THIRD child? :fp:

People getting worked up and saying they should be beheaded? :fp:

IMO they probably shouldn't be there, but they are not expensive, barely get in the way, attract American tourists and it just seems too much effort to bother getting rid of them now.

I'd be more than happy for the Royals to piss off to America permanently. They're more than welcome to them.
..and then traded to North Korea as part of the blossoming relationship.

Yes!

Went onto the Daily Mail website to look at all the overreaction to Prince Louis. Embarrassing (and not just the Royal stuff - the whole site). :fp: :dread:
Even Wills doesn't like it.

Good thing too, all this royal attention from America has helped me earn over £80 in youtube ad revenue this month.

Regarding the souvenirs though, i've been doing this for a number of years and as such, i have a substantial collection of official buckingham palace china. It started back when the 2011 wedding came about and continued on through the jubilee and the big events since. When it was the queen's diamond jubilee, i was in Battersea Park by the Thames as the flotilla passed by, i had a great view of the queen's boat too as it was moored directly opposite me, got some great pics of the whole royal family that day.

As you walk from Victoria Train Station to Buckingham Palace there's a Royal/British souvenir shop and every time I pass it it's absolutely rammed with people. I envisage all around the world there must be masses of royal paraphernalia adorning homes. I put a Daily Mail pull-out up on eBay once and it sold for around £15 to Canada.

I normally use the queen's gallery shop rather than the main palace shop just up the road (which i assume is the one you're referring to), as the gallery one has a bigger range of goods.

Ha, just looked on Google and it's actually called "Buckingham Palace Shop". Despite walking past it all these years I honestly didn't even know what it was called. Amazing how sometime you can just autopilot past a place without properly taking it in. Or maybe that's just me.

Yep, that's the one.

The biggest palace shop though is the one they set up in the grounds during the summer opening, it's bloody massive!

I don't get worked up by most things. Things like Brexit or the Windrush generation getting deported wind me up, but those are things that have an actual impact on my or other peoples lives.

Who gives a gooseberry fool (whether pro or anti) about the Royals?

But think of the 60p a year it's costing you. You could buy 2.5 Freddo bars for that. :x

Who gives a gooseberry fool about Brexit or people getting deported? You can't just arbitrarily decide what is worth people's time and what they can be annoyed by or they see as unjust

You can't just arbitrarily decide what is ok for me to be arbitrarily annoyed by.

BBC News wrote:The BBC has waived the TV licence fee for communities wanting to watch Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding.

It means street parties and other special events can screen the wedding live without buying a licence.

Usually a premises must be covered by a TV licence for showing live TV or iPlayer, but this can be waived in exceptional circumstances.

Hundreds of street party applications have been made to councils to mark the wedding on 19 May, the government said.

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government said about 60 applications have been made in Bromley, south east London, 54 in Richmond, west London, and 12 in Reading, Berkshire.

It said many councils have waived fees for street party road closures and pub opening hours have been extended for the special occasion.

Pipa Doubtfire, the BBC's head of revenue management, said: "In exceptional circumstances, the BBC can grant a dispensation for the temporary viewing of television, so long as the viewing is for the sole purpose of screening an event which is judged by the BBC to be of national importance.

"The BBC considers that the royal wedding is such an event."

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be married by the Archbishop of Banterbury, the Most Rev Justin Welby, in St George's chapel in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Which celebrities will be there?

Everyone is being very coy about whether they have an invite.

Except Spice Girl Mel B - she's told everyone she's going.

Top of the guest list rumours are musicians Elton John, Dave Grohl and Ed Sheeran, tennis star Serena Williams and actress Priyanka Chopra.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-43941624

The lengths entire communities will go to not to pay a TV licence. Disgusting.
