Original post
Anybody else watching the Challenge Cup Final? Wigan were looking like they were going to absolutely murder Leeds up until about 5 minutes ago. I reckon Wigan will come out after half time and show their quality, Sam Tomkins is just too good, he's a pleasure to watch.

It just got exciting! Leeds' come back was brilliant, getting 2 trees in 2 minutes has really given them belief after that awful, awful opening. I'm not much of a League man, but I'm enjoying this now after struggling to do so earlier.

The game has become a bit of a arm wrestle in midfield at the moment, no real pressure being built up.

I swear they go to the video ref after every single try.

Swinton should blatantly be here. Except the bit when they lost 112-0 to Warrington...

Salford's last game at The Willows today. I went there a few times when I was little, so it's sad to see it go. The new ground is just over the way from the Trafford Centre so I might have a nosey when it opens next season.

I only went there once, for a Widnes game in what was then National League 1. It's certainly a historic ground, but it was showing it's age. Looking forward to visiting the new stadium next year as well, looks really smart.

PostRe: Rugby League - Super League Grand Final Tonight 6pm
by Custard » Sat Oct 08, 2011 12:03 pm

So then, Grand Final day. Anybody else going to be watching?

I'm going to put my neck on the line and say Leeds will win it. I think nerves may well get the better of the young Saints side, many of whom are playing in their first Super League season, let alone Grand Final. Leeds have got just the right blend of youth and experience in my opinion, and their defeat of Warrington in the semi final was surely an indicator that the Rhinos can beat anyone on the day.

Lord knows how James Graham will cope with the occasion though. Considering this will be his final game before departing the Saints for the Bulldogs down under, the pressure of four final defeats in a row, his record for spitting his dummy out on occasions such as these, not forgetting he's ginger, Scouse and built like a brick shithouse, I think the poor sod might explode if Saints don't win

Very good result for Scotland there, on paper I'd have said Ireland were the stronger team. France will be a tough test for both teams though, despite the fact they got their arse handed to them by England's second team this weekend

Talking of arse kickings...

Australia to win the Four Nations then

Ooft. That just shows what a result is was for NZ to win the World Cup! I fear for Wales against the Aussie lot... could be painful.

Four Nations kicks off tonight, Australia v New Zealand. Should be a closer game than the one a couple of weeks ago, especially if Benji Marshall,the New Zealand captain, can work his magic;

A couple more videos showing the talent playing the game down under, a few of these lads will be playing tonight.

Super League kicks off this evening with the mighty and awesome Widnes Vikings taking on Wakefield Trinity Wildcats live on Sky Sports 1, KO 8pm, and Leeds facing Hull KR.

Absolutely can't wait for tonight! I'm a massive Widnes fan, and it's the first game back in the 'big time' since 2005 for the team. I think that it'll be a close game, but Widnes will just edge it!

Other games this weekend:

Saturday, 4 February 2012

London Broncos v St Helens, 15:00
Salford v Castleford, 18:00 Live SS1

Sunday, 5 February 2012

Bradford v Catalan Dragons, 15:00
Hull v Warrington, 15:00
Wigan v Huddersfield, 15:00

Any other league fans on the board? I know that Scotticus and Spindash in particular have made some good contributions, but I think this thread sometimes looks like I'm talking to myself. :shifty:
