As Sawyer said, totally justified. It had actually been over ten minutes of scrummaging, too, and the Fijian prop was shockingly bad. It did make me laugh how he was suddenly able to stay on his feet twice as long when the ref moved round to his side, however.

Also, are you Fijian, Slarti?

It was pretty embarrassing display by Wales.Even more errors than normal, from a side that we really shouldn't be allowing to get that kind of advantage. It's not as though it's a secret the Islanders play a vary physical game of rugby, but we fielded a team who wanted to stay out of the worst of it, by the looks of it. Too many weak, or missed tackles, and not enough bodies, especially the bigger bodies, in the rucks. Ryan Jones failed to lead by example, wailed to hit hard or make the runs he should have done, he would simply put his head down, head in to the nearest Fijian player and bring the ball to floor again. If we're going to play like that next week, we may as well not turn up.

Still, last match it was 11-10 to Wales, now 16-16... next year will be a cracker I'm sure.

What? That was nowhere near a good match for us, we played awfully, we made so many stupid mistakes. No disrespect to Fiji but they are a team we should be beating comfortably, not drawing with. I was hoping the players would be up for it tonight, seeing as a few of them were involved in the loss in the world cup, to make amends so to speak, but apparently not. A poor performance, we were lucky to get the draw. However, I am a constant optimist/delusional and I still think we will beat the All Blacks next week, and I have tickets too :D Should be a good match anyway.

And in regards to the penalty try, it was definitely warranted. I'm guessing from where you were, you couldn't see, but their prop couldnot handle Adam Jones (I'm quite drunk, it was the prop on this side yes?) at all, kept popping up. So much so that they replaced him to avoid him getting a sin bin. After the 6th time the ref gave the try, fully deserved, too bad Wales were so mediocre everywhere else.

Yeah I was at the other end of the pitch. I'm watching iPlayer now so I'll probably change my mind - it's just Wales didn't seem very interested in getting a drive over try... and in Law it must be 'probable'. It's going the way that no-one wants the contest to continue forever so the penalty try finishes it.

Anyway, Fiji are very dangerous as the World Cup match demonstrated and have some excellent players. The day Wales can comfortably beat them is when they're back on full song. It was a damn scrappy match and given the piss poor Welsh display it good to see a second tier team (however strong) do well against one of the top teams.

Edit - I'm English but my Welsh flatmate who was sitting alongside me would agree with the above.

I felt the penalty try had to come. It was just a mess and killing the game.

I think the front row has to be Wales' best weapon in the 6N. It's a good one.

It's a difference in emphasis at the top level... I would probably sin bin the player after a third penalty and if there were no replacements and it went to uncontested then so be it. But for the spectators uncontested scrums are truly rubbish and spoil that area of the game.

A more detailed and correct place for me that it wasn't a PT is the referee forum: http://www.rugbyrefs.com/forums/showthread.php?p=138254#post138254

Obviously I was well away from the action last night but there you go.

Oh I missed that the ball had popped out at that stage then!

Oh well no you're right then. That scrum series has effectively ended at that stage. Hmm.

What a shower of gooseberry fool Wales are; that was one of the most inept performances I have ever seen by a recent Welsh team, excluding us getting thrashed by England before the last world cup.

Fiji deserved to win, and im sure they ll give us a good game in the world cup as well.

England are looking good and will again brush us aside in the 6N.

Couple of decent games today...

Scotland vs South Africa - I haven't seen SA play for a while, so it'll be interesting to see them. Reckon SA to win though, about 25-15.

Ireland vs New Zealand - NZ to win this, but by how much...reckon they'll put 30 past Ireland at least.

I'd argue but picking DOC, MOD, Reddan and Hayes in the 22 for this match is beyond a joke. All 4 are so far gone from form that it's unreal they're even in consideration when players like Toner, Cullen, Boss, and Ross are either back at Leinster or on the bench.

We're going to get creamed, and Kidney will dodge the flack yet again as Munster fans go "ah but sure he's won a Grand Slam, two Heiny Cups and a U19 WC."

England off to a dire start against Samoa.. curse of the Islanders stikes another NH team.

They have some good players i has to be said. Engs backrow looks poor thus far.

Where are South Africa? I'm also stunned that on THIS forum nobody has picked up on Scotland having a black player called AnsBRO making his debut today.

Scotland weren't particularly good today but we won and that's all that matters! barclay was immense and Vernon did more in 5 minutes than he did in 80 last week. Fantastic result, shame about the performance but we got there in the end.

Pride has been restored.

Well done Scotland! Massive win. Whata reply to last weeks stuffing!

Engs game was messy but the games against the Islanders always are (look at yesterday).

They attacked well and could have scored far more. Well done Samoa on playing the way you needed to stay in this.

SA will be much tougher next week now. Could be very tough.

I don't have much hope for Ireland either, but here's hoping! Ireland need to be quick off the mark and make an early statement. Get in their faces and show them you're not intimidated. The All Blacks smell blood, don't let them taste it.

Well done to Scotland, missed most of the game but a very good result. Just too bad Wales couldn't hold on and do the same last week!

New Zealand looking dangerous this first 10 minutes, no surprise there.
