Totally agree, don't understand the moaning from Jones. There is an article on the BBC that implies the crowd thought the game was boring as a result of this tactic but I thought it was anything but boring, it was one of the most interesting games of rugby I have ever seen.

Dawson way out of line on twitter IMO. Made the game a fascinating spectacle for the neutral/cheering for the underdog.

The cricketing example that Jones compared it to is not relevant. What the Aussies did to New Zealand was within the rules but massively unsporting. There was nothing unsporting about what Italy did.

I can't believe that there is actually a furore over this and that they are hinting at rule changes. You just want to smack their heads together and tell them to stop being a bunch of crybabies. You got temporarily outsmarted FFS, deal with it. :fp:

Guarantee Jones wouldn't hesistate to use that tactic if he'd thought of it and believed it would benefit his team. All in all a bit pathetic.

I don't really get all of the fuss about this. It was a tactic, and it worked for a bit. Didn't really have that much of an impact, and from my point of view it matters even less because England still won. Nothing more to it than that IMO.

If England had done this to the All Blacks in the World Cup final you can bet that everyone saying that it was a disgrace would say it was a masterful tactic.

Maybe we should try it against NZ. Be interesting to see if England would get criticised.

Absolutely. Jones would be lauded as a genius.

Apparently we've reached the point in world rugby where everyone must play the same and have the same tactics otherwise risk being called out for breaking the game. strawberry floating ridiculous.

Hes just trying to distract people from the fact England were a bit gooseberry fool for most of the game, theres a reason this tactic hasnt caught on, the simple reason being it gives any player with a bit of cop on free yards right up the middle. England eventually figured this out and made serious gains there, showing its a nice little trick to break out and try to catch people napping but its not going to change the game or force a rewrite of the rules.

Just realised England can win the six nations if Wales beat Ireland tonight.

Wouldn't surprise me if they're cheering Ireland instead of Wales down the road if that's the case
