Thoroughly enjoyed that. Ireland have a lot to thank Mr Sexton for, having basically done bugger all in the second half. France can take something from the game. Only Scotland have bugger all to be optimistic about.

Roll on tomorrow when England wallop Italy.

Ha, and he said ‘drink responsibly’!!

Edit: just checked and he definitely dropped in coveffe, or however it is spelt. I thought it was odd when he brought that up! The sneaky bastard!!

Joined the league just now but it doesn't include any of my points from the 1st round :fp:

Pleasantly surprised by the Wales win, but only managed to watch the England game over the weekend. Hopefully I'll catch more over the tournament.

Not a great Irish performance, the win and how it came about was amazing but thats not a great French team and they gave away a lot of penalties, made hard work of it all. Still a wins a win and showing that kind of grit will stand to them but after seeing how easily ENgland halded things against Italy, Ireland will have to do the same next week.

That was close. Got to the pub as the replays for the Wales 'try' were on but didn't really see it. How they didn't score another though!

God I love it when we beat Wales. It's almost as important as actually winning the tournament. Never a try, comes off his finger and he doesn't even get downward pressure. Never mind eh lads, you should have a half decent chance at third this year if France don't show up.

Having watched it over and over again, the TMO was correct. Wales weren’t cheated, the ball was basically knocked on in the air. There was no grounding. I did think that Wales had been robbed - couldn’t even understand why there was a need to go to the TMO - but I was wrong. I guess the TMO looks at it frame by frame??

Never in doubt, should have buried Wales by at least 20pts. Jones won't be happy.

It’s defintely a try and I honestly can’t see why the TMO didn’t give it. He clearly gets his fingers on the ball first and is applying downward pressure as it touches the ground. The general consensus with pundits was it should have been given. Worth saying we scored a penalty instead though so it’s only a +4 or more probably a +2 with the way we were kicking.

On the flip side, Wales got the rub of the green with ref decisions in the breakdown area and overall England were deserved winners I thought.

The kick on their first try was pure class too.

It was NOT a try. Watch the BBC replay - on their website - and it is clear that the ball was knocked on in the air. The TMO was actually spot on. There was no grounding.

Have you watched the BBC video ‘was this a try?’, (something like that, I’d link but I’m on my useless I-pad..) Watch in slow-mo and I’m afraid it is a clear as day. Really not trying to be a smart-arse, at the time I was convinced that Wales had been robbed - but when I watched it back last night, sans alcohol!, and without emotion!, I realised that the TMO had in fact got it right. You could argue that Wales were unlucky in that 9times out of 10it would have been given anyway....

Went to a pub to watch the game with friends yesterday and despite being worried there would be another barrage of petty racism thrown our way, it was actually really civilised and pleasant :D Good natured banter on both sides, clapping for the opposing side whenever they did anything good although that meant in only had to clap twice for wales :shifty: . Must have been because we were closer to cardiff. Id happily go there again.

I can't believe the tackle on that Welsh guy to drag him out by the corner, strawberry floating heroic stuff. Wales had 4 men running that ball in and you'd have bet your house on them getting it and that guy just came out of nowhere and took him out.

Not a very convincing performance by either side though, England will have to step up if they want to beat the Irish to the title as they look far stronger at this point.
