That is truly stupid. The Haka is a confrontation, France should be able to respond as long as its not in an offensive or racist way.

Ridiculous! What a stupid way to add controversy to a good World Cup. Absolutely ridiculous! I'm annoyed at this.

Pretty much this. I didn't like the French trying it but i though it was there right to at the end of the day. Like has been said the Haka itself is a confrontation so why cant the other team confront them back?

1443: RUGBY UNION France have been fined £2500 for advancing on the New Zealand haka before Sunday's World Cup final, the International Rugby Board have confirmed. Les Bleus were supposed to remain behind the 10-metre line in their own half but instead advanced towards the All Blacks in a v-formation, led by captain Thierry Dusautoir.

Teams and individual players have confronted the haka on numerous occasions with no penalty.

It really does grip my gooseberry fool when all the rugby commentators big up the haka and speak about it in such revered tones. If England decided to strawberry float about for 5 minutes before every international would the IRB sanction that? I doubt it somehow. ;)

Nah, England just strawberry float around for the 80 minutes of the match instead. Image

Cheers.

Well that's just stupid. Maybe should be required to stay in your own half but the 10 metre line is dim.

Most teams usually do some sort of huddle and chant before kick off, sometimes they compete with the opposition. This is a grown up version of that.

You're in the Llanelli Scarlets region, they have a few of the Welsh national squad. The regions play in the Magners league (unlike in England where clubs play in the premiership) but there are certain to be smaller clubs closer to you.

France didn't get fined for confronting it, they got fined going over the line. Like any team would. It's in the rules. And they knew it was against the rules, but they just did it anyway, according to their captain. Who btw is subject to eye gouging rumours on poor Richie.

What about the rules about penalty kicks having to go between the posts:
