MI 2 SE Audio Commentary Features Veterans Gilbert, Schafer and Grossman

LucasArts wasn't joking around when it said that the enhanced re-release of Monkey Island 2 would feature commentary from "the game's creators," as it today revealed that the in-game commentary features contributions from Ron Gilbert, Tim Schafer and Dave Grossman.

"Ron, Tim, Dave will be lending their trademark wit and humor to select areas in the game," said LucasArts." When playing, players will be able to hear the three's insights into key areas of the game and get insight into making the original game as well as their thoughts on the new Special Edition treatment."

Packing both original and redrawn visuals along with a re-mastered score and full voice recording, Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge is due to hit PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, iPhone and iPod touch as a digital download this summer.

Not as bad as Willy Beamish.

Very little in the known universe is as bad as Willy Beamish ;)

It wasn't that bad, per se, more the constant disk-swapping that got me down. I actually liked the world and its characters.

Just realising that I went through a real point-and-click phase at that time, what with Dark Seed, Monkey Island 2 and Willy Beamish among others.

Can't believe Dark Seed was given a 6+ rating.

I played the scary Dark Seed. Point & Clicks were my favourites. I bought many of the LucasArts & Bullfrog games from that era.
I've never heard of Willy Beamish.

You dodged a bullet then. Real case of moon logic, IIRC.

First time I came across it was the Mega-CD version.

Dark Seed was one I missed, though.

That looks fantastic and so much better than the original special edition.

Also Willy Beamish is a terrible, terrible game.

Hint system :fp:

Not a good thing since back in the day you had to solve everything yourself and it was a challenge, now with the internet and hint systems forget that difficult part, its a shame.

Only if you want to play it like that.

You don't have to use the hints (in fact I think you get an achievement for not using it).

Can't wait for this.

Only two weeks now, also the new voice acting will be available in the original version of the game...

That looks like the most boring Point and click game I've ever seen and I love P&C games.

Nonsense. Magazines of the day were LOADED with complete solutions and partial solves for the game.

An inbuilt hint system just does away with the weeks of writing to a magazine or just hoping like hell someone else would.

I'm quite grateful for such a hint system :shifty: As much as I love P&C games, I get stuck on them very easily. I try and persist until the solution is discovered, but being stuck for too long can get so tedious...

Anyway, I can't wait for this  I'm very grateful for these special editions, as I was introduced to the series with Escape (which I still like, Monkey Combat aside) and then Curse, all the while wondering what the earlier games were like. I finished Secret a few weeks back, so I'm ready! And maybe I'll finally get round to Tales after that...what's the general GRcade consensus on the Tales series?

Solid at least, but it also reinvigorates a story that was beginning to flag after Curse (or Monkey Island 2, if you listen to some).

Just replayed Tales of on the PS3 and it really does hold up very well compared to the pre-4 games.

Funny, plenty of decent puzzzles and a lot of the new characters are generally interesting

Episode 2 was, I think, the weakest by far.

Episode 3 though... Any point and click adventure that allows you to skip large chunks of the game in exchange for ridiculous amount of laborious busywork is just

You should keep playing I found the last episode to be the best. Just a bit of information if you preorder MI2 on Steam you get a free giftable copy of Secret of Monkey Island, which you can use yourself.
