I used the butchers knife on the boss. It meant I could regain life by killing the minions.

They aren't too bad once you realise they hate each other and will start knocking the gooseberry fool out of each other.

It's definitely the most difficult of the early game bosses though. I remember struggling a bit on first play. Walked through them like they weren't even there on NG+ and beyond, mind.

Took them down earlier :toot:

Got hammered the first time, I managed to get them fighting amongst themselves but the second stage of the fight I just wasn't ready for. Second time around the dark gits outsider the fog were in the way so I had to take them out but I got there in the end.

Also used the fire and shortcut back to the swampy bit to farm that black knight, so I got a few helmets and shields, along with a body armour. No sword though which is what I was really after.

I'm in the catacombs, I've managed to kill the boss but I'm having a hard time staying alive so headed back to get enough souls to level up a few times.

He's really easy when you work out how to really hurt him.

Go for him bracelets.

I thought i'd have another quick crack at him and managed to do it without taking a single hit

I'm playing 2 handed all the time anyway, so i loaded my ring that gives a damage boost with low equipment load and just battered the bracelets. He tried to hit me 3 times i think and i just dodged it.

yeah a reason why i didnt really like him - felt cheap dying first few times and then i summoned someone and they just went 'bang' straight on them and the fight was over. is there any hint given in the game for his weakness?

I think the hint is just how
shinny his bracelets are
. I watched a strat video.

Got a little bit further the next section seemed a lot easier until you get to the
dungeon
.

Just got to
Pontiff Sulyvahn
could barely get a hit on the guy.

Think I'm going to try and do some other stuff and come back.

That fight is really tricky solo, but it's much easier with one or more AI summons (there are three potential allies for that fight). Worth investigating if you're really struggling.

I just figured in zelda style that the hands would be the weak points, turned out to be the case and then some.

Got to the valley place, crossed the bridge to be ambushed by the big giant rat banana split thing. Took me more tries to beat him than it did any of the bosses so far. Managed to hit his open mouth at one point opening him for a visceral attack, which took him down to 1 hit left only for the git to thrash about and kill me :x Got him eventually though and then got killed by some fire cross split mob a bit later.

I'd also climbed down The broken rope bridge, beat the fire demon and found ash lake, only to narrowly miss getting hit by what I presume is the giant again before nopeing back to the bonfire.
