After you beat a boss.

Won't be seeing him for quite a while. I wanted some more arrows from him to beat the Crystal Mage boss.

Does he disappear from the shrine then? He was there last time I checked but haven't swung by him for a while...

He's at the end of the tunnels to the left of the blacksmith.

No worries - I've found him before, just the quoted conversation had me thinking he might disappear?

If you talk to him he'll say something along the lines of "This place is boring. Want me to go steal stuff for you?" And if you say yes he'll go away for a bit and do his own thing.

Oh you mean Greirat and not the hollow guy. The first time you send him out he'll come back but later on you can send him out and he'll only come back if you've done one of two convoluted side quests.

I have no clue who this is, I've obviously missed him.

He's locked in a cell in the High Wall of Lothric.

I think I might have to give up on this, just not finding it fun. Tried the Crystal Mage a few times and just kept dying and frustratingly died a few times when I just wanted to get back to him quickly (the game really needs to have bonfires right outside where bosses are) and the poison swamp is just strawberry floating annoying (who really wants to have to keep changing armour and take damage when walking around). I can't find the third flame to snuff out and the other side of the swamp is also too hard (keep getting cursed and then die immediately). So played around 1.5-2 hours tonight but no actual progress (levelled up a few times but not noticing any of the battles being easier).

There's a bonfire on the higher piece of land just before the ruins before the Crystal Sage, you can literally just run past all the enemies from that bit straight to the boss in about 30 seconds.

I think I know the place, but it isn't 30 seconds. I have to fight through 4 undead with the pole vaults and then fight through about 6 in the ruins. I have tried just running through the ruins but only 1 in 3 attempts ended successfully. It is just a chore having to go through this just to have another attempt at a boss. Also, my attempts yesterday were less successful than my attempt on the previous night (where I'd got him down to less than 10%). The problem I have now is that because the thief has left the shrine I can't buy any more normal arrows, only the shitty wooden ones.

Wrong bonfire - there's on much closer.

You're up the hill on the way down into the area - there's one on a small hill near the buildings

They're both bosses that (not really a 'spoiler' but just in case) use clones to attack you. They're also both considered relatively easy bosses, though I think that depends on your play-style and build (there have been 'hard' bosses I've done on my first couple of goes, and 'easy' bosses that took me ages).

Are you saying that there is one that will let you avoid entering the ruins?

"Both" bosses?

I don't have any recollection of that either, oh dear, I feel like I've missed so much in this game, I suppose I could just start again....

DS3's Crystal Sage and DS1's Pinwheel are bosses that share some common features...? That's what Brer meant. Sorry, I've probably confused both you and myself now :slol:

(Based on faded memories)

About halfway along the wall you come to a tower will multiple floors - up has a lantern on a balcony.

The progress path is out the tower across some roof tops.

You can go down the tower to explore a bit as well.

Thanks. Yeah, I know he "clones". I don't remember getting as far as Pinwheel in DS so I had literally no idea what you were both talking about.
