Ive gone back to my NG character (i made Guts from Berserk), so im gonna finish it off with him. Hopefully the DLC will be less annoying in NG.

The Ringed City definitely improves once you get past the banana split angels. It's just a pity they introduce the same mechanic later on with the banana split archers. Honestly I'd advise anyone playing the game to look up how to beat the angels and the archers before playing it just to save yourself the massive headache. It definitely gets a lot better once you're in the ringed city proper. It's harder than any map I can think of in the base game.
The areas look really impressive too. But I think they could have done a lot more with the concept of "all the lands merging together", like out of all the maps they bring back from older games they choose harvest valley!? One of the ugliest lamest maps from DS2?? Why not bring back a twisted version of firelink shrine or undead burg or anything but harvest strawberry floating valley.
But then they just toss that idea out the window and send you to the ringed city. It's a good DLC, with some great bosses and a fantastic new location, but overall it's still way, way belowArtorias of the Abyss DLC.

They probably used Harvest Valley because they were strawberry floating dying to get another poisoned swamp section in there

Dark Souls 1 Firelink is in there. It's the area you fight the first bosses. Loved that the NPC quest for this DLC was Patches.

Holy gooseberry fool @ the Ringed Knight Paired Greatswords btw. Dual-wielding ultra greatswords that hit like a truck and have a weapon art that stun locks people to hell. Been doing invasions this afternoon with them and it feels totally unfair sometimes, one of the attacks has crazy reach.

Apparently they've already been nerfed once so strawberry float knows what they were like before because they are ridiculous now

I'm happy for him, I heard he attempted this a while ago and got hit once right near the end.

After seeing that I think I'm gonna try a dual wielding play through. Doubt I'm good enough but worth a shot, eh?

11 hours in and this is so much better than DS2. And it looks gorgeous. Currently exploring Irithyll of the Boreal Valley and it's so maze-like. I keep thinking, "I'll see what's round this corner and then come back to check around the other corner" only to find that the path I've gone down leads deeper and deeper into the level with yet more twists and turns in different directions. Then you find a shortcut and find yourself somewhere familiar. It's awesome.

Currently using the executioner's sword +4 and it's pretty damn good. Really powerful but has a decent speed that is much quicker than a lot of the heavy hitting swords I've used in the past 2 games. Some people might think it's boring but I always play the tank.

strawberry floating Champion Gundyr! I've been stuck on him for days now. I'll have an hour's try every few days and I always get him down to that last chunk of health but his increased speed at that point is my downfall every time.

I've removed all of my armour so I'm quicker at dodging and it's working but I just can't get in those final blows.

Perhaps the hardest boss I've ever fought in these games but I'm so determined to do him in. I've been stuck for so long though now.

Also getting my ass handed to me by a teleporting ass hole that I don't remember the name of. And when I did kill him, he was revived by some witchy cow. Don't feel I stand a chance against it which is why I'm devoting myself to Gundyr.
