Unfortunately I'm clearly gooseberry fool at the game. The bitches keep spawning but the main problem is the tree itself, I don't seem to be able to avoid it. Is there supposed to be an area I can escape it or is there a particular way that I should be able to dodge it? Currently no plans to do further gardening.

His first form should be easy, just go straight for between his legs :slol: When he slams the ground and sprouts and arm, just focus on that, he doesnt have many attacks that i remember, just when he sits up, leg it out the way.. and use any fire bombs or magic if you can

Didn't go back to the tree yesterday, carried on where I left off from with the club bastards. Moved onto some swampy bit (with poison  ), snuffed out two of the flames, found some dead looking wolf I prayed to and some small demon on the top of some castle ruins (that was easy to kill from the safety of the stairs with my bow). Found quite a lot of stuff, but nothing is game changing in the sense that enemies are going to suddenly get easier to defeat. Not sure where to go next, options are either strawberry float about in the swamps looking for the third fire to distinguish, go back and try the tree again or fight against some other demon I encountered (can't remember which it was, used the bone thing to return home with my stash of souls).

They never get easier, the game doesnt do that mate, it constantly throws stuff at you to see how you're progressing, are you using the dodge and backstab? Especially for the slow moving enemies, there are 3 flames you need to extinguish, stay away from the big tree demon things for now, go back and kill the tree, you'll get thousands of souls, have you met the character on the lift yet? Or fought the fire demon in the undead village?

I know it never gets easier, I've completed Demon Souls and got a fair way into Dark Souls before giving up. What are the big tree demon things, the things I've seen lurking in the poisoned waters? I don't think I've fought the fire demon in the undead village, that was probably the one I boned home from. Can't actually remember now whereabouts it was. :fp:

Yeah the tree things in the swamps are banana splits, make sure youve got a decent poison resistance armour set on while you're in there, regardless of how much physical damage you take. You'll meet a guy sideward, by a lift, he cant work out how it goes up and down? He helps you defeat him too. You get a strawberry float load of souls for that too, my guy is stupidly overpowered for where I am now, but it makes the game more fun, I grinded way to much but it was worth it. Also at the beginning of the undead settlement, did you go find the NPC by the edge of the bridge? There are loads of dead ones, but he's in there somewhere...

Had another quick bash on this last night - not enough time to make any real progress so concentrated on trying out a few different tactics on some of the enemies in the undead settlement. I think I've worked out some good approaches to tackle most of the base enemies in that area now, generally a case of learning when to block/dodge, when to hold back and when to let rip with my katana!

One thing which has made a massive difference for me is that I've switched from using my old 360 controller to using my Shield controller for this game. I love the 360 controller but it seems that mine has developed a sticky/unreliable "B" button which has hampered my dodging ability. Now that I have a working dodge button I'm much more nimble! I guess I've not been playing many games that rely heavily on the B button as I would probably have spotted this sooner!

No shame in that. I don't play online because I've got enough problems with the game without some strawberry floater from real life attacking me. Happy to use NPCs though.

He goes back to the shrine, and gives you about 5 free level ups, before he dies

Haven't played this is quite some time and I find the thought of going back a little stressful. I can't even remember where I got to.... One thing that does annoy me about this iteration, is that weapons and armour don't seem to improve as you move through the game; I'm still using my initial armour set and I've played the game for hours. I've also stock piled 'Boss souls' as I've heard that the boss weapons aren't that great. Can anyone recommend what weapons I should be pursuing (I prefer faster weapon types) and a decent set of armour? Perhaps the armour system is similar to Bloodborne; you change it when you need to buff certain resistances.....?

Light or heavy armour, or magic resistance at the expense of damage. The boss souls gives you 20k most times, so i always use them, the weapons they produce are a bit gooseberry fool, Im still using my katana and longbow as a back up, max the gooseberry fool out your favourite weapons and you'll be fine.

In what way have you upgraded your katana?

With at the titanate stones/shards/chunks you find, I've got fire on it as well. And then I've got an elemental weapon (ice) which can be upgraded using twinkling titanate. If that makes sense?

Yeah, sorry, I know how to upgrade weapons, I just wondered which upgrade path you followed.

So, thinking about it, I kind of remember where I am, it's just after the bit where you mainly fight those tall fellas with either a scythe or a sword and shield, is this near the end?

Can you remember the last boss you fought? Or the area you're in? Sounds like you're in irithyll? Like a snowy/frosty place?

Yeah, that's the place, the last boss I fought was kinda like the level enemies, but larger, it was in a cathedral.

Yeah he goes back to firelink shrine mate when he disappears, you have to talk to him as often as you can.
