One thing that does annoy me about this iteration, is that weapons and armour don't seem to improve as you move through the game; I'm still using my initial armour set and I've played the game for hours. I've also stock piled 'Boss souls' as I've heard that the boss weapons aren't that great. Can anyone recommend what weapons I should be pursuing (I prefer faster weapon types) and a decent set of armour? Perhaps the armour system is similar to Bloodborne; you change it when you need to buff certain resistances.....?

Lvl 9 longsword is all you need.

Just level up the long bow and buy decent arrows, tis all you need.

Where can you get non wooden arrows from? Ideally I'd like something that explodes on impact.

Black Bow of Pharis. Better than the longbow if you're using a character focused on dexterity because it has C scaling for that attribute whereas the longbow is D.

I'm using a character that is unsociable. Ideally I kill everyone off before they get up close and personal.

Didn't have another go at the tree, but had a couple of attempts on the Crystal Mage (I think that's his name anyway). On 2nd attempt almost had him. I went back the Shrine and got one free level up from the character I found earlier (I assume he will give me more later) and also the thief who I bought some normal and flame arrows from. The problem is, I told him he could go off and look for other stuff so I assume when I return to the shrine he and my supply of decent arrows will be gone.

At what point will he return to the shrine?

Yes?

Bit of a weird question this, but I'm playing through the original DS at the moment (having platinumed and loved Bloodborne), and notice this is on sale at £24.99.

I already have DS2 on the PS4 bought in an online sale, but am tempted to pick up DS3 while it's on offer. Has it been cheaper on PSN at all? Is £24.99 a decent price?

And after finishing Dark Souls, should I go to number 2 and follow it through chronologically, or would you recommend going straight to 3 and doing SOTF later?

I got this just before Christmas for £17 from Amazon (Tesco direct were also selling at this price). It has gone back up now, but is still £22 at Tesco (although out of stock). I suggest you wait until closer to the time of when you will actually play it as I'm sure the price will drop (or come back in stock at Tesco).

I live abroad, so a disc copy is a little troublesome. Take Dark Souls, which you can't actually buy digitally on PSN - I can't get any English language disc copy here, so bought it from Amazon, and it cost me about £30 with international shipping. In order to be cheaper than the £24.99 digital copy, it would probably need to be about £10-15 physically. I was just wondering if it has been cheaper on PSN yet.

I have actually finished Bloodborne, so once I dust off DS (I'm probably less than a quarter through anyway), it'd be a choice between 2 and 3.

I do have Demon Souls as well from Plus, but would need to reactivity my membership for that. Will get around to it eventually though.

3 has a ton of callbacks to 1 of I'd play through that first after 1 while that game is still fresh in your mind.

Won't be seeing him for quite a while. I wanted some more arrows from him to beat the Crystal Mage boss.

Does he disappear from the shrine then? He was there last time I checked but haven't swung by him for a while...
