I know I'll get slated for this... but is Horizon a tough game? It looks pretty demanding and, tbh, I just want to wander around the landscape, play about with the cool-looking photo mode and press X to fight a baddie if I have to.

Is it the kinda game that a rubbish player could enjoy?

Put it on easy and sure, it can be pretty challenging on harder difficulties though.

Thanks, Samuel. I searched around and this backs up your advice:

Sounds about the ticket :toot: .

You can also change the difficulty on the fly, so if you're finding the lack of challenge dulls the experience you fan up it whenever you like.

Thanks, dude - sounds cool. I had my finger on the trigger but I held off whilst thinking about all the games arriving over the next few months. I'm gonna have to prioritise!

I played it on Normal, died a few times due to my own sillyness. But it was rewarding when i killed some of the harder machines to go up against.

Once you get the shield-reaver armour, the game just becomes incredibly easy.

Also... DLC!!! strawberry float yeah!

Which, if you take your time with the main story, doesn't happen for a good long while, or even at all, if you fail to locate the required power cells.

Just started this tonight, it feels a bit overwhelming at first, lots of menus and the UI is a bit crammed (Changed it to dynamic with touchpad bringing it up as I want it)

Got up to the point where I am about to go off to do the proving, switched it off now and will get back to it over weekend. Think I need to take sometime walking around trying to used to everything

I stopped playing this for about a month and now can't muster up the inclination to play it again! :fp:

I'm about 20 hours in to this and I'm just not feeling it. It looks incredible but I'm finding it really dull - I think I'm playing this too close to breath of the wild. I also just don't like Alloy at all.

This is me, though much further back. Still very much at the start but outside of the robot dinos it's all feeling to familiar to recent stuff I've played in Tomb Raider and BOTW. Probably should have gone with something different to cleanse the pallet. Nier's sitting on my shelf, maybe that's what I need to head to first.

Yup, definitely play something else before returning to HZD. NierA will make for one hell of a pallet cleanser.

Alloy has her moments, but she's very difficult to warm to. Some of this is down to her no nonsense, mind on the job attitude, whilst at other times it's the dialogue and reaction to dialogue shots. But I have to say that I did warm to her toward the end. Especially as the main missions progressed.

I'm sorry you're not enjoying it, I thought it provided some of the most thrilling combat in a game ever. I also rated the story highly. Perhaps it's just not for you.

I agree, It starts to become more interesting when you get to a series of revelations about the world. The further I got into the game the more varied things got in terms of tactics as new bows and arrows are unlocked. Absolutely loved the hell out of this game despite not enjoying some of the story based bits early on as much.

I never took to Alloy. She was far too serious and hardbitten for a protagonist in a game about robot dinosaurs. But I can deffo see how some people might no take to it, especially after BoTW.
