I'm sorry but RE6 is nowhere near as bad as those games, I prefer RE6 to RE5 myself :shifty:

Okay, okay. It's the worst main canon Resident Evil game ever.

RE6 is much better than RE5. The singleplayer co-op gameplay is great, playing co-op with friends is amazing fun, the intersecting stories are a lot better than I had anticipated, it's really good.

6 is definitely the worst mainline game.

Still need to go back to RE6, I got as far as finishing the tutorial level then seemed to run out of will power.

It was less of a shambles than 5 and wasn't masquerading as a mediocre bro shooter.

I love hearing people trying to justify 5 & 6, it's like comparing vomit and diarrhea.

5 felt like a huge shambles, while 6 felt whole, and if it was a 'bro shooter' then it's because old style Resi games don't sell and aren't relevant.

RE6 was a commercial and critical disappointment by Capcom's own admission, while RE5 remains the fastest, and best, selling game in the series. RE4, 5, Revelations and 6 are all games in the "new" style, after all. So relevance and sales aren't why. The unfocused, and split, development of RE6, coupled with a development team that lacked confidence and cohesion, are why it ended up being what it was.

RE5 is the best selling RE game in the series because we all expected it to be RE4 HD and bought it up on that pretense, but it ended up being mediocre and really forgettable, with a poorly told story, poorly designed enemies, a shitty Wesker plot, awful location and level design and was generally everything we didn't want it to be.

RE6 corrected 5's faults and flaws, perfected the co-op system and was a much more worthwhile addition to the series.

RE6 isn't even a proper survival horror game.

They need to go back to their roots and stop trying to make it like Gears of War.

They should maybe try and adopt a different camera style - maybe more MGS like?

It's not trying to be a survival horror series any more, it's action horror.

Neither were 4 or 5, what's you point?

6 was a real shambles. Stories I didn't care about with characters I didn't like. Awful

I had forgot about the "perfected" co-op mode, in truth. I did like how RE6 kicked you back to the title screen if your connection dropped, the more seamless approach in RE5 was seriously flawed in that respect. Random waiting screens on intersection points while you wait for people who are almost certainly not going to appear outside the launch window was great for immersion too.

The new weapon system, which tied them to chapters and saves, was great for drop-in play too, especially if you liked things going out of sync. I remember the delightful discovery of loading up a co-op game to find the co-op partner only had the starting pistol and shotgun, was trapped in a split gameplay section requiring them to snipe, and the game only spawned sniper ammo for a weapon they didn't have. More games should really learn from 6's co-op, although I don't think we agree about what those specific learnings should be. :P

5 sold fairly consistently, yet RE6 sales dropped off much more suddenly after launch. RE6 dropped off due to quality issues, which Capcom acknowledged when they released patches to try and address it. If RE5 sold mainly on back of people expecting RE4HD, why didn't the same thing occur for that? Personally speaking, I'd also take a shitty Wesker plot over an embarrassing, incoherent love story any day of the week! :dread:

Revelations was the real Resident Evil 6. Despite being set before 5.

I never played co-op (or any other bit of the game) online, always just with the wife in split-screen. :shifty:

Boo this man! Although the second point, about the weapons, occurs offline too if you aren't playing consistently with the same person.

So what did you mean by perfected co-op then? I assumed you meant online, but offline I can't really think of any obvious differences. Apart from the larger chapters meaning it's less drop-in friendly, which seems like a worse thing. Although I'm pretty sure that is patched now, which makes it less of an issue now, but still a deal-breaker to the majority who picked it up pre-patch.
