Think I've heard £25 being batted about?

Shame it's not portable this time around. Then again I don't have an XL cradle for dual analogue sticks anyway. Don't think I can replay the first one on 3DS with just one analogue stick.

Vita version should be out in the summer.

Erm, why are people saying it's out tomorrow?

GAME, ShopTo and Amazone are all saying 20th March? Or is tomorrow just the US release date?

Hm, possibly worth waiting then. Though I'll be waiting for the PC version to drop in price a little bit while I clear some backlog anyway.

Probably because it's coming out digitally first, in episodes. We get one every week. Then there'll be a disc version, judging from its appearance on various game websites.

Yep... the digital version launches first (it's £19.99 on the PS4 PS Store) and then the disc version launches later (at around £29.99).

Is this a new dawn for digital game pricing on consoles? The cost of the digi version is actually *lower* because of no disc production / delivery / retailer hike elements? What is this madness?!?

Hm, might have to invest in the PC version on Thursday when I'm off work then.

It has been like that with the episodic games. The Walking Dead S1/2, Wolf Among Us, Back to the Future has been more pricey than the digital versions.

True, Wedgie. I wonder if this approach will filter down (up?) to 'standard' releases?

Err...

No.

Even so, bravo Capcom for this time, anyway. It must be the first time in quite a while that Capcom has received a 'value' recognition :-).

I'll get it when it's a tenner. I wasn't wholly convinced by Revelations on 3DS (although I have the 360 version to play). It had some good moments and some annoying ones.

Resident Evil Revelations 2: the Digital Foundry verdict

Revelations 2 isn't a bad experience but its lower budget is definitely reflected in its visuals. Of course, it's not fair to expect results matching its more expensive siblings, but we can't shake the feeling that Capcom could have taken things a bit further. Improved effects work, object motion blur, and more interesting light placement could have gone a long way towards enhancing the game's presentation. There's a wealth of MT Framework titles out there boasting a wealth of additional visuals effects and we have trouble understanding why more of the available features aren't utilised in this game - these are off-the-shelf effects included in a mature engine, and wouldn't have required additional asset generation.

We'd feel a lot more satisfied had the reduced feature set produced perfectly stable performance on the modern consoles, but the drops definitely scrape away a layer of polish - particularly on PlayStation 4. While both console versions are quite playable, the massive hitches in performance experienced in certain sections on the Sony platform left us preferring the Xbox One version. Of course, if you have even a moderately powerful gaming PC, we'd recommend that above all, as long as split-screen gaming is not important to you. The weird, subtle inconsistencies also left us curious about the game's development, as certain features appear to have been implemented somewhat differently across all three versions of the game. Perhaps the team responsible for the PS4 version struggled more with optimisation?

In the final analysis, Resident Evil Revelations is a bit of a strange experiment. After all the technological bells and whistles thrown at Resident Evil 5 and its successor, the stripped-back presentation here is quite disappointing, though the game remains playable enough. With Capcom's own Panta Rhei engine still in development, debuting on the forthcoming Deep Down, it's not clear if we'll see MT Framework again on the new consoles. Should that come to pass though, we sincerely hope Capcom solves its PlayStation 4 optimisation issues and delivers a more solid experience.

I notice episode 1 is 4.79ish, which seems to indicate to me that the full game at 20 wraps isn't going to be very long, by any means. Revelations 1 was relatively long, I thought.

Clearly Telltale Games handled the PS4 version.

Decided to hold off until it appears in a sale. Still got the first Revelations to be done.

Cheers for that website Cal. Have ordered Revelations from there and DBZ Xenoverse as it's £8 cheaper for the game itself or £9 cheaper for the bundle than anywhere else I've seen, plus you still get the SSJ4 Vegeta pre-order bonus.

I think this format is really going to work. With it being linear the smaller chunks and group switching make it seem less so.

I enjoyed the first part. The story isn't original in the slightest but it moved along at a good pace and you were never far from action. Little short at around 1 hour 20 minutes but I tried the raid mode for the first time and I can see myself playing quick bursts of that inbetween the weekly wait.
