They've only announced PS4 so far. The first would suggest other platforms, but nothing has been said on what those are.

At a guess you would assume PC will follow due to Square Enix's recent form for releasing stuff on Steam, but Xbox is the great unknown given how it's never taken off in Japan. Will they see potential rest of the world Xbox sales as enough to justify it?

It's a tough one, if they use UE4 then the cost of porting will be low, what baffles me is that they aren't bringing Kingdom Hearts 3 to Steam but they are X1, apparently Microsoft have the marketing deal there which is bizarre as the series has no history at all with the Xbox and will likely be outsold considerably on the PS4.

If they use the FFXV engine for FFVII then they better have improved their X1 performance as FFXV is not great so far on that platform.

I'm just thinking about what I'd like to see added in this version, I think some new materia would be cool, more side quests and perhaps a new super boss, maybe let the player fight Sapphire Weapon (not sure how that would fit into the game seeing as how it gets blown to strawberry float by Junon Canon).

I'm actually really looking forward to seeing how the various mini games such as the motorbike escape and snowboarding section look and play when remade.

Is there much point putting KH3 on Steam if the previous games aren't there too?

Well there are no Kingdom Hearts games on either X1 or PS4.

Of course PlayStation has had the mainline series historically, but unless a compilation of all previous games is made available for X1/PS4 then a lot of people might skip it.

Still can't believe they never ported Crisis Core to anything else.

Would the ROTR Square Enix MS partnership not count towards a version of this also?

Id be happy if they left the snow boarding mini game to the gold saucer and just maybe replace a version without balloons.

The bike on the other hand could be epic!

Already dreading getting lost in the snow trying to find the hidden summon.

Wonder if the Demon wall fight will be as hard as it was too

A ps4 port of crisis core would be great. It was a genuinely brilliant prequel that enriched the story of 7 and had great gameplay too.

A FF9 remake would obviously be the best thing Square could have announced but FF7 isn't a bad alternative.

The gameplay wasn't very good.

I could see a mobile port or something. Surely it would make sense, to build hype for this remake.

I like 9 but feel it's traditional fantasy roots are off putting to those who enjoyed the change of direction to more "modern" tech themed worlds that FF6-8 brought.

For the record FF7 was the game which finally got me into RPG's. I was never keen on dungeons and dragons, swords and sorcery type stuff. So I think 7 holds a special place for me and I think for a lot of people it was their defining RPG game

The gameplay was good, but then it was designed for mobile gaming, short missions, fast gameplay. I can see why it may be viewed harshly as a console game.

I doubt it very much that deal is just Microsoft trying to get a competitor for Uncharted to market, they don't care about securing JRPGs any more.

How was it good? Your combat options were 'move' and 'attack'

It was one of those games that tried to use RPG elements to give the combat a false sense of depth. I hate that. Is was very very average in terms of combat. The mission structure was good though.

I'll concede that it wasn't the most in depth combat, but it depends upon your set up and skills, dodging plays a part too. Combat is only part of the gameplay, the materia fusion, set up and development was pretty good.

It was a PSP game that was designed with its controls and limitations in mind, so it was never going to have intricate combat controls.
