How the hell do you fortify stuff or just use the engineer tool?

I'm not sure on that one.

I think I'll give this a miss. It's not very fun, the gunplay is very shallow and includes an aim bot  every time I tried to lead a target it kept sticking to peoples heads :fp:

Got the beta ready to go later, really looking forward to this one mainly because it has single player. Just hope the multiplayer is up to snuff.

I tried the beta but it seems like my CPU is finally too old to play the latest BF game. I'll have to upgrade when I can afford it.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Played some more over the weekend. I tried the snow map mode this time (whatever it's called... where it's 3 rounds)

I haven't played Battlefield since BF3 so maybe it's been like this for a while now, but the game just doesn't feel like a Battlefield game at all. It feels closer to something like CoD.

It is actually really boring, the maps feel tiny, no big battles with lots of vehicles.

It seems to be a copy/paste of Battlefront? No vehicles on the map, the only way to get them seems to be through points via the squad leader.

Menu design is badddd. When I first loaded it up during the week it wouldn't recognise my early access code. After a google search I found a work around which was to delete the early access file off of the Xbox and then install it from the games main menu. It took me ages to find the option on the game menu (bottom option, hiding all the way over to the right). Why are the menu tiles so damn huge?! Also the splash screen is so bright and washed out that it's difficult to read it on my screen, almost like when the sun shines in your eyes

I know this is a "beta" but it's got a lot of bugs in. There have been 4+ occasions where I had to close the game and reload it because I was stuck between an alive/dead purgatory state, where I had spawned/been revived but the game left me with the spawn UI still.

Couldn't seem to change weapon loadouts? Maybe that's intentional for a classic Battlefield 1942 type experience with basic classes having a preset set of gear.

Ammo feels sparse. Again this might be intentional but I seemed to run out of bullets with every class other than the sniper which made it the only one I ended up playing with.

Just overall this feels like a "my first battlefield" which is exactly the same problems I have with the battlefront games. All the classes feel samey in a way, like with everyone being able to revive (although nobody actually does, instead everyone seems to play solo)

Yuuuuup.

It's rubbish. The whole thing feels like a war of attrition until someone gets a tank then it's game over for the other team. The snow level is slightly more interesting than the Rotterdam one but it's still rubbish.

The guns feel like peashooters, the average lifespan is around 20 seconds and actually feeling like you're contributing to a solid push feels impossible.

War Stories were actually really good in Battlefield 1...reminds me I should actually play them more at some point.

I didn't enjoy this at all, they nailed the gunplay in BF1, I've no idea why they felt the need to re-invent things. It plays nothing like BF4 or 1 and I hate the shorter TTK, it's the reason I gave up on CoD. It also didn't feel like a WW2 game, in B1 if you played a full conquest match to the end you'd know it was World War 1 with the skins, weapons, tanks and mustard gas as well as the muddy levels and the overall style. I played the Rotherdam map twice and I could have been playing a game based in the 70's, there's no Nazi memorabilia or iconic anything anywhere.

it's a shame really because if this game doesn't do so well it'll be because "there's a woman on the cover" :fp:

I played a load of Battlefield 4, and loved it to bits (other than the launch (or was it the first 6 months))
However Overwatch and then PUBG really have changed what I want from a multiplayer shooter. I tried BF1 and it didn't grab me at all, and this feels exactly the same.

I just expect something more, maybe the bigger game modes would grab me, but playing these small maps with constant dying really does nothing to make me want to investigate any further.

I'm not as negative about this as you guys.
I quite like the fact that ammo and health are limited as it makes medics and support players more vital and squad play much more meaningful. I do agree though that even though they are trying to make squad play a focus in the beta most players just strawberry float off on their own and don't have mics so trying to organise a squad in even a basic way is impossible.

I quite like the new fortification mechanics it can change the level quite a bit and I don't think tanks are overpowered at all as they are actually weak as gooseberry fool and lack decent weapons, the turrets are slow as hell to turn and they have super limited ammo.

Overall I quite liked the beta and will buy the game as I think it will be improved.

Funny story: I've never once been revived in this. Several times I bled out whilst surrounded by teammates, and no-one bothered.

A fault of the community not the game, but still.

This happens way too often and the lack or revives is just odd as if you are surrounded by teammates it's pretty much free points and they prevent the loss of a ticket so it's just strawberry floating infuriating. The number of times I see medics who just can't be bothered to revive or chuck people health kits if you're low on health is just madness.
As a medic or support I chuck stuff about like bonkers to everyone as it's free points and helps the overall team it's not hard as it's a single button press and I can still go about shooting at people and mostly missing as my aim is gooseberry fool so I honestly just don't understand why they chose to be a medic or support if they don't want to do the job :x .

I had a game of battlefield 4 yesterday with Studawg and ended with 0 kills and 8 deaths but because I was an engineer all game fixing stuff I was 6th in the team overall :slol: .
Now that's a classic Pete game of Battlefield :toot: .

Now that every medic has the syringe as a basic item and medic revives are pretty speedy there should be no excuse if people aren't under fire to revive them. The steamroller effect can be such a force multiplayer and helpful for pushes on flags it's amazing medics just ignore downed people.

The war stories were almost comically bad. Just watched some previews of the Beta. Jesus christ this looks terrible. The "Fast bullets" upgrade for guns :fp: So thats why im so bad at battlefield games now, im using slow bullets!!

It's certainly different I will agree but I didn't notice the fast bullets but then again I'm not exactly Mr observant at the best of times :shifty: .
I think the advertising has been just terrible as I think the ground game is pretty decent if you can get a team that coordinates even a little bit. I think if you play it with a group you'll have fun but I can also see the problems and why some people are being turned off as going solo in this is pretty unforgiving.
