Gave the Beta a go on Friday, played about an hour and deleted soon after. Not as good as BF1, gun play seems off, maps weren't that good, menu was confusing to navigate and just didn't feel like battlefield.

Gonna re install BF1 and get the free season pass when it launches and play that methinks.

Opinions and everything, but that's just plain wrong.

Nah, he's right. They were increeeeedibly dull. They managed to make flying after and landing ontop of a burning zeppelin...boring.

Faster bullets wtf?! How?

Or is that a joke/meme that’s gone over my head :shifty: in which case I understood that reference

I wonder if you can get modified bullets that actually go faster in real life?
Completely pointless I know but it could be possible I suppose.

No, its an actual unlockable upgrade for your gun. Get rid of your old slow bullets and trade them in for fast ones.

There must be some kind of load out section hidden away then that I haven’t seen. Even levelling up after a game I’ve yet to see it come to anything and it would explain why the game feels so broken if I’m missing out on upgrades

I might load it up again one last time tonight and see what there is

:dread: I very much doubt the SP will be any good

War Stories were actually really good in Battlefield 1...reminds me I should actually play them more at some point.

The war stories were almost comically bad. Just watched some previews of the Beta. Jesus christ this looks terrible. The "Fast bullets" upgrade for guns :fp: So thats why im so bad at battlefield games now, im using slow bullets!!

"Fast bullets" sounds like something Wile E Coyote ordered from ACME to get the roadrunner.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Of course you can. There are a number of things you can do to the weapon but the bullet can be modified too. All you are doing is altering the muzzle velocity and maybe the bullet's aerodynamics. Downsides though would maybe be less ammo, as it uses better propellant or machining to produce, thus is more expensive. The gun would potentially be heavier and more unwieldy if you increased the barrel length. Think I watched a video that said there were no downsides though...

edit: Calling this all 'fast bullets' is a bit ridiculous though

Have to agree with the menu layout being a mess, as for the gameplay its seems closer to BF4 than BF1 for me but i have enjoyed it so far although as always with Battlefield games bloody snipers picking you off is a bit annoying.
As for the 'fast bullets' they are generally used in hunting of small game animals.

I will give the 10 hour trial on Origin access a good go before i part with any money.

At first he shoots and the bullet just hangs around in the air in front of him while he taps his watch and stamps his feet, so he gets out a comically oversized magnifying glass and it has "ACME Extra Slow Bullet" on the side.

I will be giving this a miss after playing the beta. Nowt interests me in this one and I am still burnt out on WW2 unless it's is a sim. I didn't bother with the last one either.

It definitely feels better than 1, I actually felt I could breath a little in this and take my time on the maps. The more realistic it becomes the harder it is to spot people in the environment, mind. Gunplay felt solid, not consistent frame rate on the base PS4 which I hope they can sort out.

The trouble is I felt somewhat bored in the beta. I wasn’t excited to see more. Maybe the battle royal mode will be that.

So “faster bullets” is an actual thing amongst others, like quick weapon change, no recoil, quicker reloading etc

You can unlocks these skills on the “Your company” option from the main menu. I couldn’t figure a way to access this area without quiting back to the main menu

I like a lot of the gameplay changes, but the menus are really awkward.

The gun upgrades are just stupid. They are bad from a realism/immersion sense (especially "faster bullets") and they are bad for gameplay, since they give disadvantages to the newer players that should be the ones that need the most help.

I thought it was generally accepted that multiplayer FPS unlocks should be "sidegrades" so that newbs don't turn into cannon fodder for veteran players with their legendary M1-Garand of player-slaying +5. They should just scrap the upgrade system and kept unlockable gun modifications, instead of a wierd frankenstein system with 'magic' RPG-style upgrades, 'gameplay' gun modifications and 'cosmetic' gun modifications.

I upgraded the medic and support initial guns to max and didn't notice any difference but that could just be down to me going from extremely gooseberry fool at shooting to merely very gooseberry fool.

Had another go this morning, have to say the normal conquest mode felt a lot better to play than the Grand Operations.

Have they shown any of the battle royale mode yet?

No one cares about the single player campaign in these games, they're always gooseberry fool anyway.

Erm, the single player in Battlefield 1 was great.
The first mission where you were thrust into combat and the words "You are not expected to survive!" gave a horrific glimpse at just how bloody WW1 was with the player being unceremoniously thrust into a new character when the character they were using died.
It was brutal and set the scene perfectly.
