Or maybe a Starfox game with metroidvania gameplay?

But then I guess you're blurring the lines between what each franchise does. Even if this turns out to be some Metroid Starfox crossover, I'll still buy on Retro's name alone.

Seems like natural progression after the planet hopping in Corruption.

Which really makes you wonder who was on the crack when they greenlit Other M.

Other M is a continuation of the 2D Super Metroid gameplay like NSMB and Phantom hourglass did with Mario and Zelda. Even though they all graduated to 3D, their 2D gameplay remains.

This is such a bullshit rumour, started on a site no one has even heard of and WAY too much detailed info for a leak. Fanboy with dreams and wanting hits for their shitty little website.

Same site was bang on about that Playstation All Stars game.

I don't want this. I still hope for a Fusion sequel on 3DS using the Other M engine.

Except there's no way they could do a game like that justice on Wii.

Mafro is bang on about an Other M style game on 3DS, it wold be pure class.

If this were real I'd love it if Samus was just zooming around the universe got hit by a comet or something and ended up in the Starfox world with all it's colour and vibrancy. Would be a cool contrast to metallicy world of Samus.

We're talking about a combination of Super Metroid and Starwing. Both of those were SNES games.

And you're telling me you couldn't do justice to both of those games on the Wii?

Yeah because they'd really churn out two SNES games mashed together

I could see them maybe making a Metroid game with some Starfox-style space shooty bits, but not an actual cross-over. Perhaps there's just been some miscommunication?

True. One SNES game at a time seems to be about their limit.

I think you'll find that is a NES game, not SNES.

It looks most like the SNES versions to my eyes. Also, it cribs a lot of it's music from them, too.

Bullshit rumour confirmed to be bullshit:

Remember that thing about a Star Fox and Metroid game for Wii U? Yeah, apparently that’s not actually a thing after all. According to the Paul Gale Network, which broke the rumour, the crossover was never anything more than a proposal. So what is Retro Studios actually doing? Perhaps we’ll find out at the expected Wii U extravaganza of E3 2012
