From the Paul Gale network

http://paulgalenetwork.com/home/2012/05/19/rumor-is-retro-studios-wii-u-game-star-fox-metroid-fusion-saga/

Summary

- The game switches off between intense Arwing space and planetary battles as Fox makes his way to the planet that Samus crashed on and a Metroid Prime-like experience of gameplay as Samus on this planet, gradually uncovering its mysteries, leveling up, etc.
- The Star Fox stages represent what the series is best known for, including the chatter and coming to the aid of the rest of your team, all range mode battles, and on rails stages.
- The Metroid part of the game puts you alone, void of human or any talking character contact, and like the Prime series, sees you gaining upgrades, battling bosses, and in this case, repairing your ship.
- The game is said to be epic in size, scope, ambition.
- The pacing has been perfected to not interrupt what the feeling is behind either franchise, since Star Fox is more often known for being acceptable to have short sessions with and Metroid rather the opposite. You can opt to continue playing either just Samus’ part or Fox’s part without crossing over for much of the main game (or play it as it’s scripted back and forth), but will eventually have to complete both, as the characters will ultimately meet up.

Please don't be true! I wouldn't mind a star fox game with metroid-esq parts but not an actual franchise crossover

That sounds far far far too stupid to be true.
At least I hope it isn't true....no way that Metroid and Starfox should be set in the same universe, it would completely destroy the seriousness of the Metroid series.

I would actually jizz myself if they were working on something Metroidian.

But not Star Fox.

An original IP in a sci-fi universe, borrowing elements from both Star Fox and Metroid as well as Zelda and Homeworld, would be ideal.

Agreed. Metroid on the Wii U would be amazing. I'd buy the console for that.

I think it's almost certain that, at some point, there will be a Metroid game on the Wii U. It's a flagship Nintendo franchise after all.
To be honest I'm surprised there hasn't been a 3DS Metroid title yet.

That sounds absolutely off its trolly and almost certainly, absolutely false.

Nintendo aren't afraid to rest their franchises 'till they've got something worthwhile to show for it.

I'm not sure that the world is ready for a Metroid/Starfox crossover though. Certainly not without some kind of Smash Brothers style framing device (where everyone is a toy).

On other hand, it's not like the Metroid universe doesn't have it's own native race of bird people. I suppose Fox, Cats and Dogs aren't really that outlandish. There does seem to be something fundamentally incompatible between the styles, but then Metroid's style has taken a beating lately with Other M; Given that game's popularity, maybe they want to push the boat out a bit?

Sounds like fanfic. Presumably it ends with Kirby swooping in and swallowing Princess Peach while Chibi-Robo and Pit look on.

Who the hell is Paul Gale and why should I trust his "network"? :shifty:

But yeah sounds a bit too random to be genuine. I can't really see how those two universes would gel together at all.

I too am calling bullshit.

EDIT: Some choice bits from the "About Paul" section of his website.

"I’m a 28 year old, martial artist, video gamer, personal trainer, artist, actor, and voice actor"
Versatile guy.

"In the martial arts world, I’ve been training in various styles since I was 4 years old, have competed in three world tournaments, representing United States each time, and am currently going for my 2nd degree black belt in Shotokan Karate, this June. My martial arts knowledge goes from beginning to now, like this: Grapple Wrestling, Tae Kwon Do, Mool Soo Do, Kung Fu Self Defense, Boxing, Kickboxing, Amateur Wrestling, Jiu Jitsu, Tai Chi Chuan, Wai Chi, Personal Defense, and Shotokan Karate"
So don't strawberry float with him really.

"I currently write for Bitmob.com and continue to contribute to 1up.com, have helped with Electronic Gaming Monthly and Gamers.com in the past, have been in several video game magazines, websites, and TV shows (such as Nintendo Power, GoNintendo.com, Capcom-Unity.com, X-Play and Judgment Day, respectively), and have even been made into a character in Street Fighter IV."
So he has some credibility with games stuff at least.

"I have a couple of intellectual properties that have gained interest in the publishing/development community and will possibly see the light of day in the future. Now, if you are a developer or publisher that is interested in acquiring one of my proposals, I can supply you with the concept."
Would be developer I see.

"As a personal trainer, I’ve been helping people improve their lifestyle, both from a physical standpoint and a health and nutrition one, since 2007."
Healthy sounding dude.

"I am also an Eagle Scout"
:slol:

"I let my artistic side come out through some non-conventional forms of medium. One way is how I combine my passion for video games and create video game themed pumpkins."
Image

"When it comes to acting, I’m officially credited in one movie, Zombies Ate My Prom Date, as a high school student/zombie."
Is this guy trolling the world, or is this genuine? .... It's genuine http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1138012/fullcredits#cast

"One of my original voices that became popular, was as the voice of Francis the Iguana, in Nintendo’s Super Paper Mario for Wii. The game itself didn’t have voice acting for the character, but my YouTube video sure made people wish that the game had voice acting and that I would have supplied that character, his voice."
Wow.

EDIT 2: Seriously guys, read the source website. http://paulgalenetwork.com/home/
I'm not sure if this guy is all there. "Pauls Friends" is another good one, especially the one where he tells Peter Molyneux how to fix his games.

Oh and here's one of his pumpkins.

This could well be a Metroid game where you get to Pilot Samus' ship in Starfox-style flight sections.

Seems like natural progression after the planet hopping in Corruption.

Which really makes you wonder who was on the crack when they greenlit Other M.
