I found the show to be a slight improvement this week but i've noticed a real dip in quality over the last few months on it. And the show really isn't the same without Matt Morgan, really hope they haven't had a falling out as he hasn't been on it for 5 weeks now.

I'm quite a Russell Brand fan, going to see his live tour in February, I can totally see why some people wouldn't like him, but I find him to be one of the funniest people alive. I daren't listen to his podcast when I'm out and about as I just end up tittering like a loon.

I think Jon Ross is one of the wittiest guys alive, his radio show on saturdays is frequently hilarious. But he's been doing it for a while so I s'pose he doesn't have the novelty value of Brand, who I think is also a witty guy, but let's face it, a bit of a twat too. That's not to say I don't enjoy his radio show, there's often some funny stuff on there, but it's a pale shadow of its former self since Matt Morgan stopped co-hosting and ridiculing Brand's idiotic behaviour; if Morgan doesn't return soon, i'm prolly gonna stop listening (I'm sure Russell is heart-broken).

Oh, and the Sachs phone calls were funny and reprehensible in equal measure.

Brand and Ross are both intelligent, witty chaps - the latter, sadly, is quite astoundingly sycophantic on his chat show and seems to have never heard of research, asking his guests some of the most inane questions. That said, I half-wonder if he does that just to try to spark off them and maybe lead into an off-the-cuff joke. But he's very quick witted - if, on this occasion (among others), a little crude.

Brand's football column in The Guardian of a Saturday is tremendous. He's a very, very good writer.

A lot of jealousy in this thread it seems.

Yeah, Brand was very nearly the best thing in it, but then Mila Kunis was in it, so he didn't stand a chance, really.

I don't really have an opinion of either of them.

But unfortunately for them, neither will ever be close to being half as funny as Andrew Sachs no matter how hard they tried, which is somewhat ironic.

Agreed. Unlike many here, I regularly listen to his podcast (just finished downloading the latest, in fact - it's a weekly subscription, like Kermode's film reviews and the 1upYours podcasts), and I've noticed a a gradual decline in Brand's wit and ability to amuse. Where once he sounded funny, cheeky and risqué, now he's just repeating himself, but with more than a hint of desperation as he struggles to maintain his relevance and status as a 'celeb'.

He really does worship at the vacuous altar of celebdom, too - and in truth it grates. He's a class1 arselicker - just listen to his careful exchanges with Noel Gallagher, to name but one.

Brand is a one-trick pony: for how much longer can he keep up the 'cheeky Dickensian cockney/Carry On' persona? He already looks and sounds increasingly ridiculous and he long since became a parody of himself. He just doesn't seem to have noticed it.

BBC Entertainment wrote:The BBC has apologised to actor Andrew Sachs for the "unacceptable and offensive" content of calls made to him by Russell Brand during a radio show.

The Fawlty Towers star was called four times during a prank on Brand's BBC Radio 2 show on 18 October.

The actor's agent said Sachs was "very upset" after Brand and guest Jonathan Ross left lewd messages about the actor's granddaughter on his voicemail.

Brand himself apologised for the offence on his latest show.

He said "you musn't swear on someone's answer phone", but added it was "funny".

A BBC Radio 2 spokeswoman said: "We have received a letter of a complaint from Mr Sachs' agent and would like to sincerely apologise to Mr Sachs for the offence caused.

"We recognise that some of the content broadcast was unacceptable and offensive.

She added: "We are reviewing how this came about and are responding to Mr Sachs personally. We also apologise to listeners for any offence caused."

Sachs, who played Manuel in Fawlty Towers, was expected to be a guest on the programme, but was unable to appear due to unforeseen circumstances.

Obscene comments

Brand and Ross went on to leave a series of messages on the actor's voicemail during the two-hour radio show, which included obscene comments alluding to Brand having slept with Sachs' 23-year-old granddaughter.

A BBC spokeswoman said the programme received two complaints unrelated to the phone calls, but they have had further complaints since the details of the stunt were publicised.

The 78-year-old actor's agent, Meg Pool, has written a letter to Radio 2 controller Lesley Douglas asking for an unreserved apology.

Ms Pool told BBC News that the actor had passed on his mobile phone number to Brand's production team "in good faith", which the presenter used to contact him during the show.

Talk show host and Radio 2 presenter Ross has so far declined to comment on the incident.

Ms Pool added that the actor did not hear the programme, but listened to a recording and was "offended very much indeed" by its content.

Earlier this year, Brand apologised for making a hoax call to the police during a stage show in Northampton.

He rang a police line in front of an audience and said he may have spotted a man who was responsible for a series of assaults.

Brand later said he was "devastated by the possibility" that he "may have offended vulnerable people".

The 33-year-old star, who hosted the MTV Music Awards in Los Angeles last month, has been a regular presenter on Radio 2 for almost two years.

As George Carlin once said...Anything is funny. Including rape. Think of Elma Fudd raping Porky Pig.

It's context. The thought, an elderly man being abused by two comedians is awful. Listening to it, it was strawberry floating funny. I laughed throughout the whole thing.

I like Brand...On Radio more than telly.

I've just noticed this. I hate these people who complain about something when they haven't seen it or heard it. Daily Mail scum I think is the collective term for these people.

Channel 4 news has a report about this apparently. The headline? How stars can get out of touch when they're paid so much money. :fp:
