Really? In a thread about Satoru Iwata? I wouldn't think the exact numbers would matter, but if you insist.

In the first large-scale government survey measuring Americans’ sexual orientation, the NHIS reported in July 2014 that 1.6 percent of Americans identify as gay or lesbian

Jesus, it was just a joke. The exact numbers don't matter, it's just that 93% of people that bring up percentages like that are just making them up.

Well, given that they come from Gallup, they almost certainly are anyway.

There is a 23% chance that they did not make them up.

To be fair, Kirby is a gay icon, so Iwata did his part there too.

Just to be absolutely clear, I did not refer to the USA as a backwater colony on GAF. I saved that for my little rant here.

Decided that there can be no better tribute than to download and play Earthbound. Been meaning to do this for some while so now is the time.

Did the same, it's absolutely gorgeous. The fact that there are pictures of Keats all around Onett is a little unsettling though.

Must admit that I was tempted to give earthbound a go just last week.

Is it actually any good?

I'd rather not wax lyrical about it. It's best experienced by playing.

Think of Paper Mario with a very basic Pokemon'esque battle system mixed with wonderful sprites and humour.

I'm a few hours in and loving it, only annoyance is some bemusement around your stats.

Thinking the English release of Earthbound might have been Iwatas sort of goodbye to the west.

Overthinking?
