I don't eat much of either these days, but sausage all the way. Was never really that into bacon.

Yep, this is the correct answer.

Is this because the bacon is gooseberry fool elsewhere?

If this is some kind of sausage superiority thing I'd like to introduce you to the Newmarket sausage. I'd pick them over anything.

Yeah bacon elsewhere is dire. Never tried it in Copenhagen.

Funnily enough I feel ham is vastly superior in other countries (esp. Italy), but British bacon is leagues ahead of anywhere else.

Britain has some pretty good sausages but Germany might be a bit better IMO. I've also had some very good Polish sausages (stay calm Hexx).

I find the opposite. You get some really cheap, bad sausages where as bacon is rarely bad, even bad bacon is still quite good..as long as its crispy. Chewy bacon fat. :dread:

You also got really strawberry floating good posh sausages which I would choose over bacon any day. Caramelised red onion sausages. :datass:

Sausages win for me. More filling, more versatile, more variety.

German and Italian ham (such as Brunswick or Parma) is always very clean or has good marbling/fat, whereas UK ham has a tendency to have blood spots and veins in it. I don't know why.

Bacon, superior snack/breakfast, sausage, superior meal. That's where I'm drawing the line.

Ham is barely ham here, thick cut ham or death.

I can't be doing with Walls or Danish bacon. Leaks white gunk everywhere. Whatever salt water solution they've pumped it with comes right out the moment it hits the pan.

I'd agree with this but have you ever had breakfast in German hotels? The sausages they serve up then are pretty crap, these weird little things. The bacon though :dread: I've no idea what that gooseberry fool is.

The strawberry floats wrong with all the overly crispy lovers.
I don't mind it, but I'd much rather soft meat with crispy fat.

Absolutely. The cult of crunchy bacon and nothing but crunchy bacon is something I can't get on board with.
Whenever I'm buying rashers for a fry up I tend to go for thick cut back bacon rashers. If you cook those to crispy then they are ruined.

 Sausage and bacon. In moderation. (Like once a month, in a butty.)

The moderation bit worries me. I often have bacon as a pre workout breakfast and although the saturated fat isn't an issue the bum cancer cells in cured meat thing worries me a bit.

You mean yours doesn't look like a rasher of streaky bacon? :shifty:

Come off it. After a month both would have gone off. You need to eat them at least once a week, and in the case of sausages probably twice during the week to avoid clogging the freezer.

I'm not as much of a fan of back bacon as I am of the superior streaky kind. So for me, I guess it goes:

  • Streaky Bacon
  • Sausage
  • Back Bacon

As for sausages, chorizo is pretty awesome.
