Lobb was unable to speak on exactly what kind of game Scalebound is, but he did offer up a few hints. "What does Platinum do well? That's what they're building. And what do we (Microsoft Studios) do well? That's what we're adding. And yes, these are dragon companions."

The bit about what MSS do well is a bit puzzling. Nothing in particular jumps to mind. Lots of money?

So a third person action game with its soul removed. Gotcha

Azure services are offered to all Xbox One publishers. It's not specific to MSS.

SCALEBOUND: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW – IGN FIRST

Scalebound, an Xbox One exclusive from renowned action game developer Platinum Games (Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Vanquish, etc.), was revealed at E3 2014. Absolutely nothing has been seen or heard from it since. That all changes this month with IGN First, where we'll be covering the game in-depth throughout August. Our team went to Platinum in Japan and will be bringing you approximately a dozen exclusive features and videos over the next four weeks.

We'll be kicking things off tomorrow morning at approximately 8am PT/11am ET (4pm UK time) , or as soon as the Microsoft press briefing ends. At that point, we will post our first piece of IGN First content for Scalebound: an extended gameplay demo that's much longer than the one you'll see during the Xbox briefing. You can also expect:

In-depth looks at various Scalebound gameplay systems
Behind-the-scenes on how Kamiya-san finally got Scalebound made after years of trying
Kamiya-san himself on our IGN Live show direct from Gamescom in Germany on Thursday, August 6 at 6:30am PT/9:30am PT (also available anytime, on-demand, after that time)
And much more!

4 player co-op. Out Holiday 2016.

gamescom 2015: Fight as One with Your Dragon in Scalebound

Ready for the next great adventure from critically acclaimed developer PlatinumGames (the studio behind Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance) and renowned game director Hideki Kamiya? Well, you’re in luck: We’ve partnered up with them to launch an exciting new exclusive experience: Scalebound.

In Scalebound, you will experience the journey of a young loner named Drew, who is pulled into the strange, beautiful, and dangerous world of Draconis – where he is bonded to a fearsome and noble dragon, Thuban, the last of his kind. These two lone-wolf heroes, thrown together by fate, must learn to fight as one to defeat the powerful enemies that threaten Draconis, Earth, and a vast universe of parallel worlds.

You’ll explore the beautiful and dangerous world of Draconis, as you and your dragon companion work to defeat legions of enemy soldiers and epic scale beasts. Scalebound’s accessible-yet-deep (and very stylish and over-the-top!) gameplay gives you the power to fluidly chain attacks with your dragon to, creating devastating combos to unleash upon your foes.

You can even customize your winged pal: Choose your favorite dragon shape (winged serpent, four legged tank, and more), and then evolve your companion’s unique abilities and attacks, as well as its appearance.

It’s going to be one epic ride when Scalebound debuts on Xbox One in 2016!

That framerate needs a decent kick up the arse, but it looks kind of fun - but i could wait for it to drop in price first.

Dragon looks a bit over-powered but I'd happily run through the game on my lonesome or with online friends. Pretty happy with the showing.

I'm shocked, but glad, those canny-cans weren't sporting a Beats logo.

I'm also glad this turned out to be a more open world affair than Platinum's other games, which are often great but I just end up wishing they were more substantial. Hopefully we get that with this along with the playability of past Platinum hits.

Irritating Beats-By-Dre protagonist.

That extended gameplay footage is giving me YS vibes. And a touch of Kingdoms Of Amalur too. I genuinely don't think Platinum could have delivered something closer to my tastes. I just hope the world is sizeable. It certainly looks like they've been given the budget.

Seems to have divided opinion a bit but i liked what they showed of it. I've seen it described as being a Action RPG which i like the sound of as there's hardly any Japanese RPG type games on the Xbox One. Co-op has the potential to be pretty good in this, having four players all with dragons, i'm hoping means the game will have some pretty huge/hard bosses and enemies (like the end of the trailer hinted).

Trying to think of a main character that I found as unappealing as this guy....... Got nothing so far.
