Project Spark
Fable Legends
Phantom Dust
Halo Bloks
Scalebound

Any more?

You're right, if they realise that games they're working on are bad they should just finish them up and release them anyway, charging people £50 for the privilege.

What existing IP does Microsoft have that can make a big wave at E3? Out of the big 3 console makers its Microsofts exclusive line up that feels thin on the ground which is a shame as 360 was an amazing console last gen

The 360 is the best console of all time. The XB1 had some very big footsteps to follow in, and it's lagging behind massively in my opinion. The thing is just a pain in the balls to use, but that's probably more my frustrations with modern gaming in general showing through.

They'll announce Forza Motorsport 7 but despite being a big deal, racing games aren't en vogue at the moment so I guess for most people that doesn't really count.

Genuinely think it's incredibly sad, the cancellation and Kamiya's health situation, but also the Sony fanboy vultures who've shown more interest in this post cancellation than prior.

I was fully intending to pick up Scorpio at launch, and this was one of the primary reasons, as a huge fan of Kamiya and Platinum, but also because I've loved what we've seen of the game, and it seemed like the type of world I'd happily invest a lot of hours in. Some of my favourite memories of the 360 are with exclusive Japanese developed titles, and there's now very little (if anything) on that front that interests me. I know they've made a big thing about adding Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon to the backwards compatibility list, and acknowledging fan interest in titles like that, but unless they have something in that vein they haven't revealed, I can't see myself investing in Scorpio.

It's up there, that winter 2007 lineup is the best in any consoles' history (despite Phil Spencer's claims).

It will be interesting come E3 on how Microsoft brand themselves going forward. With Scorpio coming up they must be aiming it at the enthusiast with the power it has but they need these smaller games to bring people back across. The early days of the 360 was a golden era, mixing old and new games together but here we are today with not much to show for the current console. People have lost faith in the Halo franchise under 343, Gears simply is Gears, nothing more. Forza seems like the only genuine hit but when you release the same brand year after year people eventually tire of it. The new IPs they did release didn't grab the market or simply were mediocre.

They need a visionary but right now it seems to be throw gooseberry fool at the wall and see what reaction it gets.

I'm quite partial to the Sega Master System. So I might retract that statement :datass:

Keep this to yourself but Forza 7 is going to be announced for this year.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/ ... for-years/

I am simply struck by how weak Microsoft’s Xbox exclusive roster has been not just lately, but for years now, and things only appear to be getting worse in time. Its strongest offerings are probably niche titles like Killer Instinct and Forza, but its “big” series continue to underwhelm, and now other IPs have been killed off left and right.

While I wouldn't say Microsoft's output has been bad this generation, outside of Forza their once critically acclaimed franchises have slid into mediocrity, a far cry from the days they were churning out the likes of Halo 3, Gears 2 and Fable 2 on an annual basis.

To say they've been risk averse this generation would be an understatement.

You can put your head in the sand if you want but it's true. Microsoft simply arnt enticing people to get an Xbox. I'd say Sonys output has been mediocre to good with a couple of hits at best but they've put out new IPs and excited people with the diverse line up.

As someone who has an Xbone, I mostly use it for Forza with a few multiplats/360 back compatible games on the side and I'm inclined to agree with the criticism about their lineup/strategy herein. If Forza wasn't an Xbox exclusive franchise I probably wouldn't have bought one beyond the original Xbox at all. Even though Forza has gone from strength to strength the prevailing attitude seems to be "hurrrr cars going round in circles who cares, boring easy game, no skill", certainly compared to other "real" games. Stuff like Recore has fallen flat on its face and the W10 store is a joke - even if I had a better PC I probably wouldn't bother with cross-platform stuff as the backend for it is horrendous.

No console is ever going to hit the highs of 360's exclusives but to say X1's exclusives are mediocre is simply not true, moreover a lot of flak and opinion is coming from people who have never played the games themselves. Look at the Dead Rising 1 v Dead Rising 4 thread, first of all the video used is at best biased, secondly the people who played the actual game in question are in the minority.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the X1 exclusives so far. I'm not going to list why they are but off the top of my head I've seriously loved:

Titanfall
Sunset Overdrive
State of Decay
Halo MCC & 5
Dead Rising 3 & 4
Gears of War UE & 4
Forza Horizon 2 & 3
Ori and the blind Forest
Rare Replay and
Quantum Break

Now I've already stated that I hope this year it's not just Halo 6 and Forza 7 but yeah I'd love Halo 6, I'd give Forza 7 a miss though. I'm looking forward to State of Decay 2, Sea of thieves and Crackdown 3 (if it doesn't get cancelled) but if they have a couple more exclusives in with them and Halo 6 I'll be happy.

Also, X1 is the only place to play 1080p and a rock solid 60FPS Halo 3. I loved Halo 3 but the updated one is quite the game.

My Xbone broke a month ago and I'm not even bothered about getting it fixed, that's how little I care about it. Couldn't care less about Gears any more, racing games bore me so I have zero interest in Forza, Halo 5 was shite, Sunset Overdrive was meh. I really enjoyed Dead Rising 3 and Titanfall but in terms of exclusives it's easily the worst console I've ever owned, the only thing it has going for it that I'm interested in is the backwards compatability.

Scalebound looked pretty cool from the couple of vids that I saw, and it's (nearly) always a treat to see a new Platinum-developed title. It's a bit of a shame to see the title cancelled after all this time.
