Same. I only buy digital now and although this has reviewed fairly well I'm happy to wait for it to drop in price.

How come you've gone pure digital?

Convenience mainly. I never trade games in and I don't want to have to swap disks like some kind of savage. Plus I'm optimistic that games will be backwards compatible as standard from now on.

Picked up a physical copy from Argos today, haven't really had any time to play it yet though, only done the opening couple of scenes.

The opening area is pretty smart. Loving the compound and new way of doing quests. Enemies also seem to kill pretty quickly if they spot you, but already guns for hire is really overpowered. Can't wait to get myself a pet and more guns.

Managed to get the Gold Edition from Amazon pre-ordered on PS4 for £42 back in Jan. Just got my extra gubbins from the store; about to set off. Been looking forward to this. Love a bit of Far Cry.

Nice start. Definitely want to kill me some cultists thanks to it. Got to the game proper; time to explore!

So far, so Far Cry.

Extremely tense opening session - after which you're back in a familiar game play loop. Movement and combat feels smooth and silky. Using a buddy works well (and so far they seem pretty smart). Cougar's are complete beast and keep killing anything nearby (including a vendor I was talking to at the time)

Sound mucked up for anyone else though? Dutch's directions over the radio in the tutorial zone didn't always come through (but I got the subtitles). A truck full of preacher speakers seems to intermittently burst out a second or so. (And not in a "in game" broken way)

Played a couple of hours last night, enough to finish the starting area and move out into the County.

Enjoying it so far, but then it's more Far Cry so that's to be expected. If you didn't like the previous ones, or you've had enough of that particular formula I don't see this changing your minds.

Recruited two Guns for Hire so far (The guy at the start and Boomer (He's a good boy, yes he is) from the Farm) and they do seem just a touch OP. One of them practically cleared an outpost on their own, which was helpful as I accidentally stumbled into it by mistake and was taking some major damage.

I did like the little nod to the towers from the previous games. I'm assuming there's a new way to populate the map with points of interest (It might just be finding the relevant map) and I'm looking forward to unlocking my third weapon slot as soon as I can.

The lighting is just stunning in this though. Actually had to take into account the position of the sun when assaulting an outpost at one point as I just couldn't see anything because of where it was. Had to circle round and assault from the other direction. It would be good if that affected the AI as well, but I didn't see any evidence that it did.

Very nice looking game and I'm planning on moving the Xbox back through to the 4KTV so I can see just how big the leap over 1080p is on the X.

That exact thing happened to me.

Chased it off and was speaking to the vendor about Hunting and stuff when it came back and attacked her mid-sentence again. Managed to kill it before it could run off that time.

I had some sound issues, but it was more with the audio mix, where some things are much louder than others, notably speech. Might need to mess about with the settings a bit.

Sound went funny for me with one character sounding like he was doing the voice over rather than saying hi.

I'll probably go for my usual far cry set up, flamethrower, compound bow and grenade launcher.

That strawberry floating US Marshal  Not been playing for 30 minutes and the bastard leaves you to die twice and almost lamps you in-between.

Enjoying myself but finding 3 weapons restrictive. (Plus the loading time for shop to change is annoying)

Not sure I like the challenge/perk system compared to conventional levelling.

Also a bit worried that the anything in any order means there’s no escalation

Having a good time though - just apprehensive about longevity

Played Arcade mode a lot last night. It's pretty good - although some maps you end up on are very basic (as you'd expect).
One map was a forest, team deathmatch and bears. Lots of bears. That was a funny one.

Been on this a bit more. Had a few good hours of fun with it. It does seem a little broken as I have just bought the most powerful machine gun, so no need to get the rest. I've only got a few things to get and I'll be very over powered.

Buddies are useful, dog being favorite so far.

Hunting is ok. The enemies are ok but nothing memorable yet.

I do like the feel of it and the style. More of the same old far cry

I'm loving the combo of Boomer and Grace as buddies. Grace is an absolute machine.

Chuffin Turkeys man though. Christ. Scary than bears. (Try and unleash on on cultists :D)

I started this last night. (Went for the Gold edition - not entirely sold on the DLC, but the Far Cry 3 bonus was enough to convince me.)

The opening sections were a bit overwhelming, and quite RE7 in atmosphere. Maybe it's the tinted glasses. And I just watched 10 Cloverfield Lane recently, so the bunker put me on edge.

Still on the first island, but I've had a glimpse of how huge the map is. This is going to take some time.

I like that they make a distinction between the "Specialists" and generic "Fighters" that you can enlist. Only unlocked Boomer and Grace so far but I'm making Nick Rye my next stop so I can unlock the perk that allows you to have more than one at a time with you.

I've been nibbling around the edges of Falls End but haven't worked my way inside yet. Probably do that once I have Nick as well.

I've not bought anything yet (Other than a random boat) as I'm finding plenty of stuff in the Prepper Stashes and just lying about. Found the Flamethrower quite early on and I found an RPG not too long after, so the Armored convoys are a piece of piss now.

But yeah I'm enjoying it so far. It's more Far Cry and if that's what you want it won't let you down.

Far Cry Arcade however is a mixed bag of some really clever stuff (Someone recreated the first level of Duke Nukem 3D in it) and utter trash that just doesn't work. Hopefully there will be some better examples as people get to grips with the editor.

Really tempted to go out and get this. Been after something to scratch my fun open ended FPS itch for a while.

What's the world like in this? Any gameplay I've seen just makes the terrain seem really boring compared to past games.

We had mountains and tropical islands and now we've got a slightly rural American farmland?
