I can see Captain Scotty getting a lot of use. He is a very versatile emoticon.

It still boggles my mind how much of my life was changed for my involvement in GRCade.

Back when I was 18 and decided to put my Xbox 360 online for the first time. They were giving away Texas holdem that day.
The first game I joined was Aaronayl1 and gang.

Through this one tiny moment of "strawberry float it, I'll go online" I've been to Japan, I've made solid friendships, I met my other half and had kids.

My two beautiful boys were born because of a virtual card game I joined years ago. If I were ten minutes or a day later, they wouldn't have existed. And it makes my brain ache.

You guys  :capnscotty:

:capnscotty: I always enjoyed his input in conversations in here, and echoing other sentiments, that is no age to go.

And also, you guys all helped me through one of the worst times of my life and for that I am eternally grateful. As has been stated before, this isn’t just a forum but a community and although I don’t post much anymore, I do still lurk in the background.

I don’t understand the context of when the emoji should be used. ‘Any old time’, by the looks of it?

Sort it out :capnscotty:

See? That works.

I literally only know Scott because my friend and I followed a hot guy to the arcade who I ended up on a date with where Scott popped in as they played badminton together. Can't remember that guys name as it fizzled out but I ended up moving to Scotland, joining PG/GR and I've spent 7 years living with Anung. Freaky.

Hiya Huw! Nah, real life got in the way of my time on the forum unfortunately. Elbo was banned just before I left if I remember correctly.

Nice touch. :capnscotty:

Hell of a community we got here. Proud to have been a member right back when Gamesradar disbanded their forum and GRcade was born.

This is something I was thinking about earlier too. There are so many people I've met through Gamesradar / PG & here who I've lost contact with, but have had an impact on my life, especially in the days when I virtually lived online. Not sure that I ever said it to Scotty, but to the all of you... genuinely thank you for being a part of my life.

I lost my stepdad earlier this year after a long illness and the whole experience was sad & tough but what I took from it was the importance of taking opportunities going forward. Of doing more with my own life to honour his memory. Several months down the line and I start a new job next week, hopefully a positive step forward in my life sparked from reflection after loss. I can't bring him back but I can respect his memory. I hope that we can all do similar with regards to Scotty... just a small positive gesture to somebody else in his name adds further positivity. A friendly message to a forgotten friend, helping somebody in need, it reflects the life he lived.

To anyone deeply effected by it, my recommendation is talk about it. Until my stepdad passed I always assumed people who experienced loss wouldn't want to discuss it, but since then I've come to realise that so many people have lost people they care about and will speak so openly about their own losses when given the opportunity to do so. A loss is a big thing for your brain to process and talking about it really helps.

Karl wrote:To honour Scotticus Erroticus and his membership of both Poopgang and here, we now have our own version of Poopgang's mascot smiley, "Captain Pointy" (Image). I wanted to figure out a small change I could make to the forum itself to permanently weave our memory of Scotty into it, and I felt that adding this icon to the New Post screen would be a good way of doing that. When I talked to SillySprout about using the emoticon as permanent symbol of remembrance for Scotty, he touchingly suggested it be renamed "Captain Scotty" in his honour. Therefore, I've named the new emoticon :capnscotty:.

Here is the new :capnscotty: emoticon: :capnscotty:

It's a lovely touch Karl, I'm sure Scotty would love it.

My girlfriend just asked me why I was sat here grinning. Explaining the thread I was reading didn't really paint the full picture, but I'm sure I'm not the only one touched reading through the comments. Well done. :capnscotty:

The silly neighbourhood vegetable.
