Real shame that. 30 is no age to go.

While I clearly remember him as a member I only engaged with him a handful of times on here. I didn't realise he was so young. Christ, only 30. I can't even begin to imagine what his family must be going through.

Yeah. He had a seizure in the bath and kicked the hot tap. strawberry floated his leg up real bad. Was obviously in shock since he called me to ask if he should call in sick for work. Flesh dripping off his leg. Brutal. Made a good recovery from it apparently.

strawberry floating hell. :dread: I remember reading something about burns to his legs at the time but not sure I knew the cause/extent of the damage.

Anyway, like others I didn't really interact with him much but I remember him for sure. Very sad.

Funnily enough, so was I. He just popped into my head and I thought that I hadn't spoken to him for ages. Wish I'd got in contact when I had the chance.

Without wishing to bandwagon, I was thinking about the old MSN chats on Monday when I was driving about in Glasgow, Scott used to add me into them. I hated being added to them at the time because they were chaos, but regretted not being more involved with PG later on.

I always got on pretty well with Scott. We lost touch in 2013/14, probably because of my own difficulty in reading and responding to messages.

That seems to happen a lot. I get pretty anxious for some reason responding to random messages from old friends, and I almost never reach out. Whenever someone passes away very young like this, I think about that. It's a sad thing I think a lot of young people face, because the Internet and IM etc provides this facility, but simultaneously promotes not using it, by virtue of that connection always being there. And then suddenly they are gone. It's very sad. Maybe everyone needs to value their relationships more. I know that's why this place is important especially for more isolated individuals and why I've never let it fall into disrepair. There are more small or big relationships you would know by just looking at it, interwoven on this platform, or GR before it and all the online offshoots from that. Especially when meeting people "from the Internet" is almost totally normalised now. It's different from the likes of Facebook because things can be even more candid and personal and you generally know most of the people on Facebook as "friends" although not everyone uses it that way. People also build relationships on Twitter and Instagram nowadays without meeting in person first. In fact a friend of mine married someone they met in tumblr in America.

I wonder how many people from GR’s history have passed away and we know nothing about it? It seems unlikely that Scott was the first, we will just never know about the others.

I am not friends on Facebook or via text messages with anybody from here, but my wife knows I post here and would probably let you all know. Plus you’d probably notice when the forum posts per day collapsed….

I suppose ther is the MIA thread, but people just stop posting for years and indeed it's unlikely this is the first case, but we know because those relationships blossomed beyond the forum. I think that's a very special thing, which is why I'm talking about it. Sorry if it sounds overly analytical to anyone, I don't mean it like that.

Mini-announcement:
There is an open question about whether it's appropriate for us to get in touch with Scotty's family in any capacity, and whether we have any legal obligations re: his data. That conversation needs to be had, but please discuss it in the separate thread in the Feedback forum. I'd like to keep this thread for condolences and sharing memories. Thanks all.

Oh lord i used to dread Scott's random evening adds to the group chat, now in hindsight its been a hell of a long time since we did anything like that. Where we all had the time to whittle away hours talking bollocks as a huge, slightly mental group. Poopgang brought people together.

Those were legitimately over ten years ago. Crazy I couldn't tell you the content of the chats but I have fond memories of summers on MSN Windows with 20+ people chatting shite until the sun came up.

Life happened to us all but that was peak internet for me and I don't consider it time wasted at all.

Discord is probably the closest alternative but I just don't see that level of activity in a chat room sense ever happening again. :-(

I also used to love the MSN Messenger chats. They were always such inane fun.

Starting your first beer of the evening then opening a group chat on messenger (who is Craig on the forum?) And watching the clock ticking on before calling it a night as the sun came up.

Good memories. Shame we can't really be that silly again.

Love you all guys :)

Shall we do a forum meet up in his honour? He was always trying to poorly organise them but they were a strawberry floating blast when they actually happened. No excuse now we're all legal drinking age and no living off student loans.

It wouldn't be the same though. The old carefree teenage years of hopping on a megabus to get drunk in someone's gaff and play guitar hero with a dominos. Now we'd be politely sitting round someone's lounge we don't want to dirty to carpet of because they own the house dammit while discussing formula and no claims discounts.

I strawberry floating miss MSN. If we do have a forum meet-up, I will make every effort in the world to attend. I always regretted not making it to any of the others.

I opened an MSN conversation history the day before yesterday after reading this thread and it involved BigCheez repeatedly typing "PENIS PENIS PENIS PENIS"

Those were the days.
