I think I signed up to Gamesradar when I was 20/21 years old (a.k.a. Herrenvolk.)

Now I’m 39.

The Cobra. Ah yeah! That crazy x box fanboy (I think he brought every single versions/models of X Box.

So many memories!

I joined in 2004 I must have been 13. I'm now 26 going on 27, half my life wasted. Always been a bit peripheral not playing online much and never joining a meet but you lot have always helped me whenever I've needed it. Life advice, selling dirt cheap games, helping me with my university wor. This forum is probably one of the reasons I got my current job too. Cheers for the help guys and girls.

I joined in 2003 but had lurked for a good while before that. This forum has been an everpresent on my homepage. It's always been my first bookmark for as long as I can remember. I wasn't close to scotty (and sadly I think the last time we exchanged views we'd fallen out) but it's really great to see how people have responded. I don't believe in the after life or anything like that but I think he'd be happy to see how many people have expressed their grief and been moved to post about him. I love this place and it is still a damn fine one. I count this place as a massive source of information, advice and support. Love you lot.

So many of the older members, right back from Gamesradar, have moved on sadly. I always got on extremely well with Somethinfishy, but last time we spoke he said his eyesight had gotten progressively worse so he was ditching the forum to spend days bird watching (the flying kind) and such with his son while he was still able to see well enough.

I was a bit of a tit in the early days. The whole forum thing was new to me on Gamesradar and the freedom that anonymity provided didn't help in how I behaved, something which unfortunately carried over to Grcade for a time. There was a lot more members back then and it could get quite heated. Then my first born arrived and so I took a break from here for a time, occasionally popping by for a bit of banter, but somewhere along the line I grew up (well a bit anyway ;) ) and here I am. Anyway, no one is perfect, and we all bang skulls with other members from time to time, (a few weeks back I apologised to another member for being a tad unpleasant), but I really like it here. It's a solid community, one that is a million miles away from the school yard banter found on the likes of IGN and Eurogamer while still not taking itself too seriously unless the need calls for it.

And now I'm going to bed you freaks. Goodnight. :P

I think I joined as luneau182 way back in 2002, I think shortly after the change over from Daily Radar.

It's strawberry floating mad to think how much the world, the net, my life and everything has changed in those 16-odd years. And being 32, this means now that when I turn 33 this year that'll mark the point where I've been on some form of GR more than I've not.

Hang on, you were luneau182? With Bunsen from the Muppets as your avatar? I don't know what to believe anymore.

Very sad to hear this news about Scotticus.

Reading this topic and seeing how many people his legacy reached is a fitting tribute to how we make friends both online and offline. I know people still make that distinction, but personally I believe the boundaries are blurred (apologies if I'm coming across as a bit old and sentimental)

This topic reminds me of a wake but in a digital form and will last forever (sort of).

Gosh, in terms of my history with this community, I started back in the Daily Radar days, and then moved onto GamesRadar. I think cobra recommended me to be a mod because I may have been polite to him once?

At the age of 22 (I think) having the great responsibility of being a moderator on a games forum was a overwhelming feeling of "too soon". It made me realise the pressure that 13 year old Dads must be feeling.

As time went by and many bannings later I felt like I knew every single one of you. My case files for each of you was very extensive and my expenses for covert operations were astronomical. Some say I may have taken my moderating role too far, but I say it wasn't far enough.

However, life found a way of intervening with my online presence and my duty of care was to be wound down.

I now feel like I hardly know any of you, but I know I could also talk about anything and not feel judged. It's quite evident from this very sad and unfortunate topic that through sadness our ties can grow stronger (vicar mode off)

To Scotticus, my friend who I didn't know. Godspeed to you amongst the stars.

Yeah - I guess I joined GamesRadar in 2004/2005... which would make me 13 or 14 and I turned 27 a week or so ago. So around half my lifetime. That's quite something.

I can flesh out my one meeting with Scotty a little.

I can't remember how I'd come to be friends with him on Facebook, as I always tended to keep this and that separate. I suspect he'd made a point of adding me because of my Paisley connections.

Anyway, I was in Paisley for a St Mirren game in July 2013. It was a pre-season against Newcastle, and I'd posted on FB to that effect. He DMd me to ask what pub I was in and appeared a couple of minutes later

It was a shock to me as I'm naturally quite shy and probably wouldn't do that myself, but it was lovely to meet him: we had a good chat and he was telling me about (and showing me) his recovering leg. I bought him a drink, then parted as I went off to the game.

You could tell he loved this place - he spent ages telling me about the people he had met or had communicated with above and beyond just forum chat.

I think there's a lot of people on here who had a huge impact on his life, and I think you guys should be proud of that.

Think we should update the photo wall? All grey hairs and wrinkles.

Probably be less cringey than our 13 year old selfs.

Usually that would be true, but I’m not sure it’d work out like that with GR.

That's really sad to hear, and so young too. Rest in Peace.

I don't really remember having any particular interactions with him but I've been a lurker on these forums since the Daily Radar days and made a few friends over the forums that I'm still in touch with now, I still see a lot of Gavin83 if anybody remembers him, who used to run the Gamufi Forum, in fact I'm off to his wedding later this year!

Even though I'm not often as active on here as other members it's nice to see so many members who've been here so long and really nice to read the fond memories you have of Scotticus, the community feel of this place (And of course both Daily Radar and Games Radar back in the day) is what sets this forum apart from so many others and I'm really grateful it's still going strong!
