That ring represents Russia. Tightly clenches, nothing getting in there. Unlike decadent gapping rings of other nations.

Yeh it's pretty annoying to see rich 'arseholes' driving around sports cars whilst people through no fault of their own (the disabled etc) struggle, but it's still the lesser 'evil', or the necessary 'evil'.

The disabled are a minority, so I cannot and will not prioritize their needs over the majority, and these cuts are not done for 'fun'.

Whose alt is this? I can vote but am undecided. Yet to hear anything convincing.

Cal? It's the kind of right wing vitrol he usually comes out with.

Your all reading stuff in my posts I have never said. Or just distorting my words.

Shame on you lot. :D

Vitrol?! I don't believe I ever degraded any group in here other than labour AND the conservatives...

I think I showed some sympathy for the disabled, i'm just not prepared to pander to them when the whole country is suffering, not just one minority.

You're right. Writing this:

Most millionaires work bloody hard for their money though, and they don't do it just to fund the underclass.

is in no way degrading to anybody. Especially when written in a post referring to the disabled.

It's just the way the underclass do debates, don't let the plebs bring you down.

I voted yes (eligible) because I'm a massive racist and hate the English.

But nah I'm a big supporter of socialist political measures and am certain that if Scotland went independent we would elect people further to the political left than England. I remember there being lots of criticism initially about holding the election from the DM etc. because of the recession meaning money was tight but the right to self-determination is, I think, incredibly important. So I'm glad it's happening, though it's a virtual certainty that the no vote will win.

I didn't refer to the disabled specifically as an underclass, I was just lumping together every benefit claimant (of which I am one currently) as the 'underclass' those living on the least amount in this country. It wasn't said with malice, perhaps it was a failure of communication, but I like to call a spade a spade.

Against, though not eligible to vote, because it would be a completely pointless endeavour.
Scotland says it wants to keep the pounds, but exercise self control of it? Never going to hàppen. The British government and the Bank of England won't give even partial control of the pound to Scotland like that, so it leaves three options.
1) Allow England more or less full control of an independent Scotland's financial system (hardly independence)
2) Join the Euro (a mistake on so many levels it isn't funny)
3) Create a new currency (more than likely prohibitively expensive to establish quickly)

There's also the position of Scotland in the EU. Despite the yes campaigns claims, the most likely scenario is that Scotland will have to begin outside the EU and negotiate entry from an external position. The time that takes could be far too long for a truly independent Scotland to survive without Greece levels of buggery.

The people top earners getting tax cuts have not had to tighten their belts. Face it, this government has made an ideological decision on how to address the budget. The huge bulk of deficit is being met by cutting back benefits and public services (things that affect the poor working and otherwise) and very little gathered by tax (more likely to impact on higher earners). To put it bluntly, the cost of clearing up the disaster left behind by the rich is being balanced on the backs of the poor.

Maybe the Scots, who do not have the cluster of super wealthy in London, are tired of this approach? They are probably understandably still pissed off at how the revenue from North Sea oil was mainly used to finance cuts to tax rates rather than being invested in Scottish infrastructure.

Which is again wrong. People can claim certain types of benefit if they are disabled but have a job, or need help with their mobility.

I would imagine somebody out of work and desperate to find a job would feel degraded by being lumped in with actual workshy people.

I'm voting yes for the simple reason that we'd be better governed and represented.

I don't think it'll happen, but it'll be a very tight decision so there's always hope.

Personal attacks? Is that really needed? Have my opinions really offended you that much?

I hope they stay, it's too much of a ball ache if they leave. Besides, with the same head of state, money and shitty weather they had before - what difference does it make?

As an aside, there have only been two elections in the last 100 years where Scottish MPs have made a difference to the result. So England wouldn't be consigned for Tory rule.

There are 650 MP's and 59 of them are in Scotland (49 of which are currently labour MP's), I find it hard to believe that this doesn't have an effect on the outcome of a general election. Do you have any sources that back that up?

Also even if it is true, even one election can change the course of a nation.
