I'll be reading on this tomorrow, because, most likely, there's probably something to it.

I've lightly trawled caffeine tonight, having switched from tea to coffee and feeling like my temporal lobe has completely absconded my head, that coupled with an inability to think on any deep level. That gooseberry fool cra'y.

I remember hearing on the radio years and years ago that it increased your risk of cancer.

Sorbitol can give you the gooseberry fools though.

Unless you're diabetic why bother with this gooseberry fool?

I do like a bit of honey on my porridge. That's not a euphemism.

Isn't Aspartame only really even slightly dangerous if you consume absolutely insane superhuman amounts? That said I can't imagine even drinking one can of Coke Zero, as it's rank.

Isn't this the chemical that's in most diet drinks? If it is then it shows that trying to be healthy with diet products, aint so good for you. Better to have a regular Coke once in a while then a Diet everyday.

I wouldn't worry about it until someone dies from drinking a few cans of Diet Coke, which will simply never happen. This stuff would only do damage in huge quantities (like most things).

Yeh I've read somewhere that its reported to cause similar symptoms to that of multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus. I think there were many misdiagnosis in the early 2000s due to aspartame.

Why don't people just try to enjoy life while you are alive. Everyone dies eventually, stop worrying about when you're next going to get run over/squashed/explode/raped/eat something deadly.

This.

Avoid diet drinks. You should only drink water.

You should also avoid drinking coffee and tea.

Just to make this clear, are you saying that youre an anti-wikipedia elitist, because the primary sources that that article is based upon are all funded by sweetener manufacturers?

Whilst it is true that it is used in a lot of diet drinks, it is also used in a lot of ordinary drinks. Most people say avoid the no added sugar juices but if u look at most ordinary juices they also contain it.

Utter bollocks. I've been a Pepsi Max (sugar-free) drinker for years and it hasn't done me any harm. Recently had a check-up with the dentist - 1 minor filling after three years away from the surgery. Every can of 'normal' Coke, Pepsi, etc contains up to seven teaspoonfuls of sugar. If you must drink the 'normal' stuff then by all means do so, but I hope you can afford your dental bills (and the diabetes later in life).

Everything - EVERYTHING - can kill you if you eat or drink too much of it.

Even living will kill you.

Probably best not to worry about this stuff too much - eat lots of veg, get plenty exercise, and you'll be fine.

I've been drinking normal coke for decades (I drink quite a bit as well) and have no fillings or diabetes. I go to the dentist regularly and I get a fair amount of exercise which is more important than just saying substance x will give you this condition or that.
