Yeah I've seen the cages out and about in the beta but would much rather have my own. Haven't seen a snake yet, If you play music to them I believe they fall into a trance for a bit which could make them easier to kill.

Disappointed they haven't put fishing in it yet, its coming down the line (dat Pun).

Why did it have to be snakes?

Snakes strawberry floating EVERYWHERE in my game last night. Hissing bastards. I'll try playing them some music next time though, as hitting them with my Sword always ended up with me getting bitten and ammo is too good to waste on them when I'm not guaranteed to get a reload box close by.

This is cross play, hopefully tonight you can all make a crew. I think i'll take it on my own or with mates for a few more days till everyone's 'acclimatized' to the mechanics of the game. Experimentation and logic is the key.

EDIT: I got exasperated at Laga tbh, I mean c’mon tho wanting to be told to raise an anchor?

How do you know it was a design decision out of interest? To me the game just feels half finished and launched too early.

I wonder if its possilbe to line up lots of people so they keep vomiting on each other. Like a perpetual puke machine.

I too think it needs a better intro. Even some optional quests that teach you some basic sailing techniques would be nice. But on the whole I like the way you discover and work things out.

What I dont like is the way your crew mates displays vanish so quickly. The number of times last night I didn't know where Pedz and Jazzem had gone was rather annoying. Also I'd like a map for the outpost islands so I can work out which vendor to go to quicker.

Also so far it seems that the islands are empty beyond the chests we dug up. So it was practically pointless us exploring them and finding caves that lead to jack gooseberry fool.

It'd be really hard to line up anyone drunk seeing as they sway all over the shop!

Do what we did last night. Puke in bucket. Wait. Throw on Jazzem then when he spews have someone in front of him so that person spews and then go on and on and on.

I get Laga's point about it throwing you in at the deep end - It's almost like they assume that everyone who plays it will be playing with another person who's struggled through the alpha and the betas and know how everything works.

If you like the fact that it lets you figure out how to drive the boat for yourself that's cool, but a bit of guidance once someone's been struggling for a few minutes wouldn't have been tricky at all. Everyone's doing these "how to get started in Sea of Thieves" videos, so why didn't Rare bother putting anything like that in the game themselves? Just a "how to play sea of thieves" option from the main menu would have meant that it wouldn't ruin the game with "hand-holding" for the people who like to learn everything from scratch and it doesn't alienate the people who are trying to get started without being mugged by the typical "I'll play a fun friendly mmo like a deathmatch" online muppets.

Everyone like pirates. They're cutting out a big swatch of the market by not putting in any kind of tool-tips or "how to play" or anything. All it's going to do is push people towards other games so the one thing that Rare have spent years and years and years of time and effort making isn't going to do as well as it should do.

DISCLAIMER - I haven't yet played the full game. Will hopefully get online tonight to see what's changed from the beta

What exactly are you meant to do in this game? No main quest line or anything as far as I can see. Missions you accept from outposts just see to be "capture these types of animal and bring them back here" or whatever. Just the one enemy type? I found an island that was a big evil looking hideout and was expecting it to be full of skeletons but there was nothing there, like virtually every other island I've been to so far.

It just feels so empty so far :?

The big thing for me and why I won't be getting it is that there's no sense of progression.

Every item in the game that you can buy is simply cosmetic as far as I'm aware. Not being able to upgrade your ship or your Pirate seems like a massive oversight on Rare's part.

Well the forts are place holders for the horde events, the quest/missions get more and more complex the more you do making you scout islands for riddles and clues but yeah only enemies so far are different types of skeletons.

It’s not an oversight at all, just a decision taken. I prefer it over enemies with better gooseberry fool destroying me.

There is a far sighted goal of becoming a pirate legend thus gaining access to a new area.

Photek et al. Have you spent enough time with the game to give us your first impressions of the release build? Is the solo mode purely for tutorial, does the main game have a structure of sorts or is open like No Man's Sky, do you think it has (sea) legs :shifty: and most importantly is it fun?
