This really is the sort of game that makes me reeeeeeeally wish I had a regular gaming group. I don't think I could buy it as is, as I'd be dependent on LFG sites but it does look like a hell of a lot of fun.

Had my first go on this earlier! There didn't seem to be much variation in the random characters it was giving me. Will there be more choice in the final game? :shifty:

It's actually reasonably good fun, though. Went for the smaller ship (two people) and got paired up with some random French fella. Found a chest (after spending ages digging on the wrong side of the island :slol:

) then as we were leaving the island some big galleon drove past and took a potshot at us so we chased it down, duelled for a little while and then I rammed it and tried to leap aboard.

Drove it along for a few seconds before I realised it was going down

They don't exactly tell you how things work, though, do they? Like, I might be a pirate, but I've never sailed before. Didn't even notice the one rope lets you angle the sail until about an hour into the session.

Not a fan of the completely textless dial menus for buckets and the like, too.

But it's definitely got potential. Can see it being pretty fun with a few friends assuming it's actually got a decent amount of stuff to do.

Is there more to this than finding buried treasure and selling it? Will the Gold Hoarder's give me better missions when I've "levelled up" a little?

So far it feels like it's a game made up of all the bits people hated about the Wind Waker. Sailing, and following treasure maps.

Beta/scale test is just treasure, main game has lots more To do.

Phew. Was slightly concerned that the full game would be just digging for treasure :slol:

Took a solo ship out earlier, I'm so bad at stopping it in the right place. Kept just crashing into every island I stopped at

Pretty Epic 3 way fight between scooners, a storm eventually moved in and sunk one of us but I enjoyed the skirmish we had.

At one point one of the ships T-boned the other then I arrived with a couple of cannon shots.
