You don't even know what it is how can you say you would be into it or otherwise.

Our knowledg of the game so far is essentially 'Pirates'.

To be fair Rare + Pirates is a winning combination.

Rare + Pirates + Online Only isn't, however.

So that's dampened the hype somewhat. Some kind of team-based pirate simulator would be GOTF for me and my crew if it had some kind of proper story rather than just "oh yeah it's you against every other pirate crew".

Will be interested to hear more, but I'm not holding my breath.

I mean that the first part of the trailer looked exactly like what I wanted from a new Rare game, but the team aspect and multiplayer pirate ship fights don't do it for me.

Of course we don't about the game mechanics yet, but just the fact it#s multiplayer only is enough to put me off when otherwise I'd be very interested.

I'm maybe not quite as excited about this as I'd hoped to be, as I'd convinced myself we were getting a 3D platformer, but I'm still pretty interested. At least it's not a Kinnect game, right... ?

I think this looks awesome as a concept and in the demo, but I'm worried about the grindy, repetitive nature of MMOs if indeed this is an MMO.

What I'd love in a pirate game is a cross between Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass and Skyrim. Open-world, uncharted seas, lots of ports to buy weapons/items/ships from, able to recruit your crew from people in these ports, lots of unexplored islands/lands, rival pirates/bandits, etc.

There was a game on the C64 like this (and it wasn't Sid Meier's Pirates!) - you could sail between ports, trade, engage in ship combat, recruit crew, even get 'press ganged' into a crew. I don't think it even had the word 'Pirate' in the title. Can't remember its name.

I'd love to know more about it, the footage of the few players on board one ship had me intrigued, as did they way they all ran to the beach. If you can have a ship that lands and the members can head off in search of treasure it could be great, too many unknowns about it though. Loved its look though, the art direction was spot on.

Lots of MMO's coming it seems but I dont mind, I'm enjoying The Elder Scrolls online but the time constraints mean ill probably get proper playtime in over christmas. in a couple of years we'll have This, Destiny 2, Day Z, State of Decay online, The Division, H1Z1 and more on consoles. Personally that excites me.

Nice. Pirates of the Caribbean on the PC was actually quite close to what I described, hampered by the combat being utter wank and some general shoddiness. It's a genre that's ripe for more games though.

For me I think the bit showing all the other players on a boat highlights one of the biggest problems: in real online gameplay it won't be that good; you'll have children, morons and dickheads messing you about, trolling or griefing. It'll only work with a dedicated group of people doing stuff together.

I love the waves. Not sure about the making-of video - but the team seem like nice people. The Rare offices and open location sure looks like a beautiful place to work.
