Rumor: Secret of Mana remake for PS4 and PS Vita announcement leaked

PlayStation Latin America may have leaked the announcement of a Secret of Mana remake for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita.

The Latin American division posted the following on their official Facebook page:

Image

The caption reads: “A legendary RPG returns. Secret of Mana comes to PS4 and PS Vita on February 15, 2018. http://play.st/2ivxbhh.”

The link in the caption redirects to the PlayStation Blog LATAM, and the URL contains “el-remake-en-3d,” suggesting it is a 3D remake rather than a port. Unfortunately, the post itself either is not live or was live and has been taken down.

Unless the PlayStation Latin America Facebook page was hacked, it seems likely that this is a real announcement that was posted prematurely. But until anything is confirmed, we suggest remaining skeptical.

First Yakuza Kiwami 2 (which was a more legit announcement leak than this one as it got leaked via Tiwanease PSN) and now this. Now someone please gimme that Savage Starlight (aka Naughty Dog Space Game) leak.

Kind of fitting because the original was one of the more rougher looking 16bit RPGs around...

Style looks weak, but I am still probably going to end up getting it. Especially if it has online co-op

This game is alright, but I'm not sure why it's held in high regard. I played the sequel as well (Seiken 3?), which was graphically lovely, but I felt the same about it too.

Nothing holds a candle to Chrono Trigger in terms of Square SNES output. Nothing.

Chrono Trigger unless I am mistaken didnt get a European release on SNES, it was a fair bit harder to import back then too. This for me and all my friends was one thing, it was Zelda, which we all loved to bits, but we could all play it together.

I still remember all being round my friends house when he got this waiting to play it, but you have to play for quite a significant amount of time until you encounter all 3 playable characters

I had the honour of playing SoM on my SNES on release. Some old bloke who my mam knew loved Zelda and bought any game like it. He borrowed me it and at the time it was a revelation for me. Never had a I played a game where you "level up" or gained XP. Even the fact it had menus and different windows was a source of amazement to me. I loved the story and the setting. Of course when you are a kid it helps that your imagination fills in the gaps.

As for the switch collection. It's in Japanese so I hardly think you could recommend that as an alternative.

I've always though it was overrated too. Despite starting it several times I've never made it to the end as I always get bored of if before long.

It's £33 on the PS Store... with "optional in-game purchases".

Looks like they remade it for N64, then ported it.
