New Real ID Party Feature Now Live, Remains Free

Q: Will any future aspects of the Real ID Party system be premium-based?
A: It's always possible that we'll add features and functionality that could have a premium component, but we don't have any specific details to share at this time.

I still haven't rang Blizzard about my hacked account. Do they delete accounts if you don't get back to them or something like that?

I guess I could find out by calling them.

They should ban your account on the basis of you being a lazy strawberry floater. But no, I don't think accounts get deleted once hacked. Suspended while they investigate (if they choose to investigate), yes. Banned, no. Unfortunately.

Have you had any more emails about it since? I've had a few emails on my hotmail addy saying the same thing you got, but the only WoW account I had associated with that I gave away a very, very long time ago. So obviously it is scammers phishing for info. The scamps.

edit: btw, check out what I did to my new telly :fp:   viewtopic.php?p=2145031#p2145031

:fp:

Well... I'm guessing* this can help remove IR:

Ran a looping image of static on my Mac one time I got IR of a design i'd been working on ¬___¬.

*guess only. I read you're going to run it for 200hours  Static should speed that up (faster if it's colour noise) - it would work as in: the pixels will be changing colour more often. A lot more often.

**It possibly won't work but it might be worth a punt / looking into / edit: or using after a prolonged period of gaming.

You know it's not 200 continuous, yeah? I'm just watching telly as I usually do but I alter the aspect ratio so the screen is filled at all times/bugs and other still areas on screen are off screen. 40 to 50 hours left now.
Wish I'd thought about the static noise thing though. BUGGER. Also, where the strawberry float would I get coloured noise from?!

Have you heard about the new features in WoW? Pretty soon (next patch, I think) you'll be able to alter your gear so it looks like old gear (like the original raid set etc) but has stats of the new clobber. Pretty cool, yeah? Downside is you need to be in possession of the older stuff to be able to alter the appearance of the new. And it's not open to any and all item pieces, only certain ones (lots of 'em still) Blizz deem worthy enough.
There's also going to be something called Void Storage. The gist of it is you can store your more treasured items in it so they don't take up bank slots.

WoW stuff sounds good... I flog all my old stuff though (I hope I didn't flog the Warlord Bow ffs).

On the TV: Aye, I new it wasn't continuous, lol. I guess B&W noise would do the same thing, colour noise can be made in some graphics software and looped; an .avi file loaded into yer PS3 and played back as a movie would do the trick.

That said I could be wrong and might strawberry float the TV up even more - then again, normal noise is fine so *shrug*

Edit: If you want an .avi let me know and I'll make one. We could flog them as TV fixes - this time next week we could be millionaires.

Yeah sure, do me one of them colour noise .avi jobbies (email me it or, if it's quicker, stick it up on megaupload and send me the d/l linky). I'll save it to a USB flash drive and play it through TV.

Regarding that transmogrification thing in WoW, you can alter the look of a gun so IT appears to be a (cross)bow. Which means you can have the *pew pew pew* of the gun but without the annoying sound fx!

I haven't played WoW since February, but I got an email today saying my Battle.net was locked due to suspicious activity!

So I reset my password, and logged into Battle.net. My main character has had all of its armour/weapons deleted :(

This has never happened before. I don't even play WoW any more, and my subscription has been expired for many months, but I still feel a bit violated, and would like everything restored in case I return to the game in the future (very likely when the next expansion hits).

How can I do this if I can't log into the game and talk to a GM? Will they do it via email/phone?

Hmm. Never heard them restoring a inactive account's hacked character before, not saying it doesn't happen but most people I know who've had their accounts restored had a active account at the time. Call 'em up and find out! Getting your stuff back will be the easy bit.
Btw, you can get the Authenticator for free, for certain phones https://us.battle.net/account/support/m ... nload.html. Makes it extremely difficult for your account to be hacked. And if you don't have one of those phones, then you can buy a Authenticator device for around £10 http://eu.blizzard.com/store/details.xml?id=221004518

Thanks dude.

I managed to submit a ticket via Battle.net.
They replied within 30 minutes, informing me that my account is now safe and all my items/gold have been restored :D

My first issue in 6 years of WoW, and it was resolved brilliantly!

With account hacking, my attitude has always been "oh, it'll never happen to me".
Oh well, lesson learned. SoK, I'll pick up an authenticator ASAP

Nice one. Good to know you don't need a active account to get that kind of shiz sorted.

After playing solidly over last Christmas I've been away from WOW in a long time and finally decided to resub due to living on my own having moved to Newcastle and not seeing the Mrs except weekends.

Had the day off yesterday and rolled a Orc Fury Warrior, hit lvl20 last night before logging off.

How hard is it to learn all the lingo? I'm often left scratching my head or asking for definitions of abbreviations constantly. Especially when running dungeons and people are talking in a different language :fp:

Then again in my 10 hours of playing yesterday managed to reap in over 100G from selling numerous stacks of 20 Bars of Copper.

Explain you're not up on the lingo/slang and I'm sure most will be happy to explain what they mean. You'll pick it all up in no time though.

yeah im slowly picking it up just when someone asks me to do something and the only word I recognise is my characters name thats when I find it annoying having to ask them to explain.

Nothing beats being called a Noob by rather non-helpful players.

cheers for the link for the dictionary. Will have to get up to date. Gotta say it's so easy to just sink a few hours a night into this. Did have a Tank Warrior and it was easy to get into dungeons finding it a bit difficult to get into the early dungeons as a pure DPS.

Going to continue with him but also create a healer class (a favourite past time of many MMOs) any recommendations on who make the best healers?

All of them have their own styles. Paladin is very single target, Druid (what I play) is very buffer healer by hotting everyone rather than using big heals, Preist is good for shields and also AOE big heals and Shaman is more single target now.

So me and my girlfriend stopped playing sometime back in January, a few weeks ago, she get's an email telling her that she's had her account hacked, so I take my authenticator off my account, and put it on hers. Turns out she was hacked MONTHS ago and it was too late for them to restore anything other than her G's.

An hour after taking my authenticator off my account, I got an email saying mine was hacked. Didn't see it until the next day, checked out the battle.net and saw that I had a months game time on my account, went on and made a ticket, got all my stuff back and haven't gone on since.

My girlfriend's started playing regularly again now, and it's literally like the worst thing ever. Having to watch her play, while i'm trying not too play, it's real horrible to go through. Is there any help groups I can go too? I need some help to get me through this tough period of my life. :(

I hope they compensated her for their slow response in sending the email out :fp:
