So Sega opened a Twitter account on June 13th under the handle SEGAForever and have been posting images of systems from their past

And their last tweet was one below

Now, there were rumours of an iOS mobile subscription type of thing which, quite frankly, sounds ludicrous but Sega gonna Sega and all that. BUT since they added the Saturn and Dreamcast photos people are thinking it could be something more.

Could it be a subscription model? Would you pay Sega a Netflix style sub to play past Sega games? If the price is right, I know I sure would.

This is intriguing! Personally I hope that the games would be playable on console(s) rather than mobile platforms as I don't like controller-less controls. Even then, I wouldn't pay a subscription... I'd rather just pay a one-off fee for a game.

Even so, I am interested to find out more. At present, this sounds as if it may be an idea along similar lines to the new Atari Box.

It just wouldn't make sense to have this all on mobile.

I like the idea of a Sega Box actually, maybe they could release something that has say 5 games from each generation in the base model but have an online store where you could buy/sub to add to the collection. I guess controllers would be somewhat of an issue, hell, just release new variations of controllers!

I wouldn't pay a subscription and am not interested in mobile phone versions.

But a compilation of old Sega games (like the Megadrive collection they previously released) would be welcome.

I'd be up for a compilation of classic Saturn or Dreamcast games along the lines of that Mega Drive collection they keep wheeling out a under slightly different title every couple of years since those platforms largely passed me by.

Also it's nice to see the oft forgotten SG-1000. I haven't played many games for that system but it has a very good version of Activison's H.E.R.O.

Nope. The megadrive collections on steam go on sale often enough and i can carry on emulating DC games on Demul.

I'm inclined to think that this is going to end up being an announcement about that souped up version of their Mega Drive retro console.

If this is for mobile phones they need to release a controller that plugs in to phones. I really don't care for those touch screen d-pads.

Is that emulator actually any good? Every time I've tried to emulate Dreamcast and Saturn it just isn't good.

Saturn stuff is really hard in general apparently but it does DC and even some NAOMI/2 stuff alright. Its a bit more fiddly but i intend to get round to discovering more of the DC/arcade library through it soon.

Aren't there about a half dozen Sonic/Mega Drive collections already? That's the last thing I want this to be.

Sega has sent out a bunch of cassette tapes to 'gaming celebrates'.

Here is a video Tech Moan made about the one he got.

There is a message that says 'Cassette tapes changed music forever. We're about to do the same with retro gaming on mobile'.

On the cassette is music for Space Harrier, Outrun, super hang on etc. No Sonic music is included. So my guess would be they're are bring a bunch of classic Sega games to mobile either from the mega drive or arcade. Hopefully the changed forever part indicates they'll add some kind of controller support to mobile phones as both Android and iOS have controller support.

Here is another video from a guy outlying what Sega Forever is going to be. It sounds pretty gooseberry fool TBH.

It's pretty decent at Naomi/Naomi 2. Different games are better than others but there's some solid stuff out there. Some very weird/obscure Japan only games too. It's worth a look at some point, especially for the Dynamite Deka series (Dynamite Cop/Die Hard Arcade) which is great fun. Gunspike was on it as well.
