Bingo.

The Megadrive was cool when you were a kid. That was pretty much it's sole defining feature. It was "edgy", it had the biggest numbers which made it better. All things we know attact teenagers. Back in the day, the Megadrive might well have seemed "the best". But with the benefit of hindsight, the SNES was actually a much better constructed console for the most part, with very few exceptions (where the greater grunt of the 16bit CPU could be employed).

The Megadrive is basically the Dragon Ball Z of the console world. You enjoy it when you're a kid, but when you're older, you start thinking "WTF mon". Still, theres a certain kind of sentimental familarity.

The local Cash Generator has been worth a few visits! All £1 each:

what a strawberry floating game, had not a strawberry floating clue what the strawberry float was going on, but was compelled to keep playing.

o/  Genuienely one of my favourite games of all time, I'm not sure a more creative game exists. Just hoping I'll be able to finish it one of these days  Apparently the Japanese version is easier (and even weirder with certain bosses!).

Also, how awesome would it be if you could change the sound you hear when you get an achievement or trophy to "You've got a secret bonus point"? :D

I actually really liked what I played of that! Might be one I try and play through here and there. I'm not very good at it though :P

On the other hand, Global Gladiators gets negative points by being region locked and not playing nicely in PAL 60Hz :x First level music is awesome though.

No love for Super Soccer?

We used to have large tournaments on that.
In fact, years later we would have tournaments using an emulator on the PCs at high school. 8-)

Super Castlevania.

I remember this being hard as nails. Then I got it for the Virtual Console and came further on more or less my first go than any of my friends managed all those years ago. :fp:

Some kind of Disney/Mickey/Donald game.

Tried finding the name using google and wikipedia, but not luck. I remember this looking fantastic, but I never had a proper go at it. :(

Even though Castle/World of Illusion was immense, I can still remember the envy I felt towards those of my friends who had a SNES. I even remember think one of the Tiny Toons game on the SNES was brilliant.

I had that on PC back in the day, along with Descent it was the coolest game I had.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Probably the best game of all time. The mad referees shouting PENARLTY! whenever there was a free kick was the highlight I think. Apart from being able to score from virtually anywhere inside the oppostion half if you "knew your angles" or put enough swerve on the ball.

It was rubbish. There's a reason why football games aren't played from a behind the player perspective. That and the fact you were strawberry floated if you were the team on the top side of the screen.

Nah, it was brilliant. Cameroon were my team of choice. Though I did occasionally pick Belgium for giggles.

Never owned either at the time they were out. I was exclusively a PC Gamer up until the N64 but most of my friends owned Mega Drives so I have good childhood memories of it, also played numerous Mega Drive games via PC (Comix Zone, Ecco, Sonic) during Sega's "Sega PC" phase. Still, I later bought a SNES and having played plenty of games on both I think the SNES has a much superior library of games, so it gets my vote.

I only had the MegaDrive for 2 years, and as I only got one for Christmas 1994 I was too busy playing catchup on older titles, infact Sonic 3 and Sonic & Kluckles were the only games I had in blue boxes.

Yes, that was great. Can you remember Bomberman 2 or 3? I seem to remember that one of those didn't have a 4 player option.

What about Super Street Racer? (Super may or may not have been in the title). That was a kind of MK/SF rip off, think that had a 4 player option.

Yeah. Streetracer did indeed have a 4 player mode.

wasn't a patch on Mario Kart though.

Street Racer! I completely forgot about that game. I wonder how many other games I loved as a kid that I have no recollection of now.

Anybody here have Rock 'n' Roll Racing? That game was awesome. I remember there was one car that had a spike thing coming out of it that reminded me of the Batmobile from Batman Forever, I used to love that one. There was also a car that I thought was the exact same one from the end of Tango and Cash

Never played Urban Strike, but Jungle Strike was awesome, far superior to Desert Strike. I remember always doing the level select to play the mission where you control the Stealth Bomber. The level in the dark was hard as nails though.

Destroying the White House on the first level was always fun too

Thats the difference now though isnt it, if a game played like that it would be slammed as too difficult, or gamers would paint it as unplayable. Weve gone soft :fp:

But yeah blowing up the whitehouse was awesome,

pretty much on the head.

urban strike got strawberry floating rediculious when you had to go on foot inside the oil rigs, controls were awful on foot and the gooseberry fool thrown at you was just silly.

i own all of them on the megadrive, but i didn't when i was a kid, only had desert strike for the gameboy and played in through the gameboy player on the SNES.
