Was firmly in the PlayStation camp on this one. I only knew a few people with a Saturn; one of those were my cousins, who paid full price for it, & then sold it for a PSone.

I hindsight, I think PlayStation was the best all-rounder, helped by thoroughly cheap software, whereas the N64 had a barren release schedule, but what did come out (Mario 64, Zelda, Goldeneye, Mario Kart) is held in higher regard than anything that came out on the PSone.

The N64 WAS my childhood. So that.

All three. Saturn was my primary system until late 1997, then the PSone took over.

The N64 is the biggest disappointment of all time. How did Nintendo manage to go from NES to SNES then to N64 :fp:

I had a Saturn for a while. Added a PS1 when they stopped making Saturn games. Then finally got an N64 purely for Goldeneye.

N64 was fantastic and probably my favorite console. Home to some of the greatest games of all time. Just a shame we had to sometimes wait months between titles that were worth buying. :fp:

For me there was about 10 games worth owning on the N64, where as the SNES would have double that a year.

N64 had a great launch, Mario 64, Wave Race, Pilotwings and Mario Kart shortly after. But that was it until Goldeneye. Nintendo did give us a handful of truly great games, but compared to what they had done before with first party and third party it was a barren wasteland.

Lylat Wars, Doom 64, Extreme G, ISS 64, Top Gear Rally, Diddy Kong Racing. :|

Also, you forgot Blast Corps at launch.

I didn't like Lylat Wars, Doom was okay, but I had Exhumed on Saturn  , WipEout was much better than Extreme G(WipEout 64 was the best WipEout in that era mind) ISS64 was awful next to ISS Pro(It did have a great single player scenario mode though), SEGA Rally/V-Rally/Colin McRae >>>>>>>>>>> Top Gear Rally. Diddy Kong Racing was fun actually.

Blast Corps was six months after launch.

The problem was that games on PlayStation or Saturn from third parties were in general better than third party games on N64, why would I want any of the games mentioned when they had better alternatives elsewhere?

Didn't like Lylat Wars :fp:

ISS games were tremendous fun. Amazing in multiplayer.

Top Gear Rally is one of my favourite racing games ever. DEM physics and controls.

If you only had an N64 things were fine, but if you had the other systems the N64 really was the runt.

I never understood how V-Rally sold as many copies as it did. The handling was pretty woeful.

I do remember the cardboard flamingo's though...
