Meanwhile May keeps talking about expanding powers. I believe Tim Farron when he says we don't need more expansive powers, we need more resources to utilise the existing powers.

So unless that transcript is wrong he really did say it.

He said he would back the claims, he doesn't call for, and then when asked to clarify would he like her to resign he says the election is the best way to sort it.

Not really calling for her resignation is it.

Well, backing those calls is I reckon. Not that I blame him. She's a disgrace.

Just been trawling around youtube out of boredom and came across Tommy Robinson's response to these attacks.

Calls for internment. Because that worked in really well Northern Ireland. What the actual strawberry float.

I haven't heard the actual audio but I assume that transcript is correct. I was listening to the radio when they were reporting the story and they said Corbyn's team is claiming he was misquoted.

Lots of people on social media are calling for internment and deportation for any suspects.

Idiots.

Yeah you can't publicly back calls for a resignation and suggest you don't think they should resign.

If it wasn't for May's campaign speech yesterday after ostensibly suspending campaigning I would be more upset with Corbyn's tactics than I am. It's a conversation people should be having.

I used to work with a woman who's brother was interned years ago. Wrongly interned.

It does not actually work.

And whenever I see deportation come up, it seems to be levelled at the whole muslim community. All 2 million of them. All 2 million odd of them.

What might work is getting human intelligence assets into communities where the risk of radicalisation is high. What might also work is encouraging self-reporting by treating these communities with respect and having police liase - in an open, friendly way - with community leaders. If we could increase the funding and manpower available to projects like that, we would have more intelligence to work with and a better chance of stopping these attacks.

That might all sound bleeding-heart but it's a way we can approach this without compromising on the core values that make the UK a nicer place to live than Iraq in the first place. Locking 'em all up(!) is likely to be ineffective, but worse than that it means we're adopting an indiscriminate approach that lowers us to their level.

If we deported everyone in the UK (all 65million+) then we would stop all terrorism.

And if we deported us all to Iraq & Syria we could probably solve the ISIS problem by sheer weight of numbers.

Two birds, one stone?

I'd love to know exactly where we would lock them all up. The current prison population is around 85.5k and the capacity is 86.5k. And that doesn't take into account the staffing levels.

Joke one: From what I understand they are not tightfisted when it comes to stoning so more than one stone will be acceptable when we get there.

Joke two: Better a stone than a cup. :dread:

Didn't think I'd be doing TV RATINGS in this thread, but the One Love Manchester concert pulled in a enormous 91.5 million viewers last night via three platforms (68 million on Facebook, 14.5 million peak on BBC1, 9 million on YouTube). It also went out on Twitter & the BBC website.
