I love it but i have some bad news...

the round £1 will soon no longer be legal tender, therefore not worth anything

Especially the pounds with the {}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{} pattern around the outside

Maybe that's the joke :shifty:

Or maybe it's topical because this is the last week of round pound coins

Was a bit worried about this but stuck with it and am really impressed. Story is ridiculous but once you get through the prologue bit it's every bit as good as the first game and my fears about it just being set in cities were unfounded. There's nice big plains with lots of encampments waiting to be picked on.

Though it can look lovely, like that, I'm still slightly underwhelmed by it graphically and I hear it's not that amazing on PC either so my expectations for the One X version have been somewhat tempered.

It looks great on PC. The HD textures are a separate DLC pack that you have to actively search for on the Steam store to find and download, so perhaps the impressions you're seeing are from people playing without? But it's a pretty huge leap from the first game, even without it.

Took some snaps of the PC version in Ansel (not the game's photo mode).

Yeah, looks broadly similar on PS4 Pro. Hair looks a bit better, there.

Has the unfortunate effect of somehow looking worse in photo mode than in game. Like it strips a lighting pass or something.

Slight exaggeration maybe :D It's a pretty grungy looking game though.

Wrote about why this series doesn't appeal to me, despite how good the Nemesis system is

tl;dr / ads;dr - I want Nemesis to be better utilised to serve a story that isn't shite

A good read, and I definitely agree. The first game was an odd beast: the Nemesis system was obviously great and the "we-totally-didn't-just-steal-this-wholesale-from-the-Arkham-Games" combat was enjoyable but besides those it was completely unremarkable. The environments were bland, the story gibberish and the design woebegone. I never considered the thematic differences but you make an excellent point there too.

I'll either borrow this off someone or wait until it's a fiver in CEX like I did with Shadow of Mordor. The mixed reviews and nonsense loot box sputtering have put me off placing any serious money down.

Are the loot boxes effecting your playthroughs?

PLAY | Final Fantasy VII Rebirth [92h]
WATCH | Ted Lasso S2, HiJack S1, The Apprentice S18
RACE | Westonbirt Half (March), Chew Valley 10k (June), GNR (Sept), Cardiff Half (Oct)

Anyone else have trouble running in this? My character randomly pulls away in the wrong direction all the time.

You’ve hurt his feelings by telling him how gooseberry fool his game looks.
