Miles better than ICO, one of my favourite games of all time. So beautiful and haunting.

Ico was fantastic, but SOTC all the way!

I must dig it out and play it again. The PS3 does lovely things to it. :D

After seeing the trailer for the new TeamIco game I played Ico again for the third time and each time it blows me away, I just love it!
I'm thinking about doing SOTC as haven't really touched it since completion when released. I remember some of it being a bit frustrating and hit or miss but still a great game. However it should be worth playing again just for the wonderful soundtrack.
My PS3 still plays these thank god!! :)

Both games remain beautiful even today, despite the contraints of the hardware. Just superb design.

Just an incredible game. There is nothing like seeing Colossi #13 and #15 for the first time. Mindblowing.

Not really. Ico remains the first of it's kind to present videogamers with genuine emotion - Colossus merely built upon that, as will The Last Guardian if that E3 trailer is anything to go by (you know - you just know - that that sad-eyed griffin/dog/dragon/thing ain't gonna make the final reel - thinking about it's tragic demise almost makes we want to cry in anticipation).

The colossi were a glorious study in sadness; doomed giants in a barren land, somehow magnificent and gentle in all their faded majesty - just how clever is that? To make you feel sorry for these dangerous behemoths - even as you strike the killing blow...

Great game, true enough, a real collector's piece, but Ico set the standard and got there first.

Absolutely loved SOTC. Easily one of my all time favourite games. I remember hoping that the temple itself was going to be the last colossus.

Never played Ico so I can't compare.

Well, the way I view it...

Ico = unparalleled emotion
Shadow of the Colossus = unparalleled scale

The impact the scale of SotC had on me was greater than the impact of the emotion Ico had on me, therefore I rate SotC higher. I guess it depends on what kind of person you are.

I bought the art card version of Ico on release and then traded it in (after playing and falling in love with it) during my skint Uni days. Then the ebay price rocketed. :fp:

Some years later I found an art card copy for £50 in an Indie in Angelsea , which I bought.
Then Sony re-released it on budget when SolC came out. :fp: :fp:

However, all the above becomes easy to swallow when you consider just how incredible SolC is. I just sat mesmerised by the thing for the entire duration. I shall not ever make the same mistake and part with it.

Incidently, I have the art card version of SolC too. Anyone else?

I've got it  But the cardboard sleeve is getting a bit bashed up. :(

Anyone who didn't import should have the art card version. I'm pretty sure it was the only version that we got in Europe (unless it went Platinum?).

If there's any justice in the world it should have gone Platinum...

Just took down the first Colossus. Off to deal with the second. Really liking it so far, artistically it still looks beautiful despite being from '05.
