Exactly  There really is hardly a difference

I think it comes down to the fit and perhaps the colour. Stay away from light blues or something that reminds people of school.

Exactly

I'm sure it comes down to people trying to nail the 'I'm professional but oh so casual without trying', while trying really hard. Having the material pressure of a triple rolled up sleeve on my joint would do my head in, especially if it's warm.

I'm a long sleeve rolled up all year round kind of guy. Would definitely take the piss out of any short sleeved gimps if I saw them.

I also roll up the sleeves on a long sleeve if I want to. If you do your roll/fold properly its quite stylish anyway.

As with all things, spend the money on a proper shirt by a proper designer and you can use it properly.

So you're saying I should buy a 10 pack from ASDA George?

Don't wear these type of shirts because I'm outrageously hairy. I don't want to put people off their lunch.

One of life's many quandaries: do you purchase a shirt that's too big or a shirt that's too small.

Shirts (and t-shirts) generally look better if they're fitted; you don't want it tight, but you don't want it baggy either. I think most people I've seen wearing short sleeved shirts fall into one of those two categories.

I seem to have real trouble finding shirts that fit properly; if I find one that is long enough and 'broad' enough, it's invariably baggy as strawberry float. If I find one that's not like a tent at the back, it's too tight around the shoulders and arms. It's not so bad with formal shirts, because at least you tuck those in, but I'm not sure I've ever found a casual shirt that fits me properly.

It's jeans I have trouble with. If ever the gods show pity and allow me a nice pair in my size, they're always three inches too long!

My one abiding (horrifying) memory of short sleeve shirts was when YEARS ago my gf at the time bought me a light blue ben sherman short sleeve shirt and that following friday she said I should wear it out. It was nice sunny summer evening so I had it on and walked into a packed pub off Grafton street and as I pushed through the crowd she shouted "over here" and low and behold she was wearing a girls version of the exact same shirt. :fp:

It was fitted and she looked great but I felt like a proper lemon sitting beside her, then our mates came in and proceeded to slag us off, my gf thought it was cute and she (at the time) was modelling herself after posh spice, she looked a bit like her, she had same hair style and wore short coats with just nice bra's under neath (thanks Posh btw) but this was a bit too far.

I should have known better because several months before while in another pub (her local for Manu v Liv match) she wore a girls version of the old away liverpool jersey, (it was white and green checkered :dread: ) which again she had bought me. It didn't bother me too much cos lots of people have same football jerseys on plus she looked hot AF in mini skirt, also Danny Murphy scored a last minute free kick against Manu which had me in top mood!

Or one that fits just right, but goes down past your arse so only looks good tucked in, which you don't do because you're heavier and don't want to accentuate your flab.

I have and do all of these things based in the environment, I don't care about setting or fashion all that much. I've even worn a waistcoat and a short sleeved shirt at the same time.

Nearly all my shirts are fitted either medium or large and one small which is to small really, I usually try them on. I don't really own any cheap shirts as I go to sales and use a lot of vouchers from presents. I would pretty much always wear a long sleeve shirt, all of the time for quite a long time, I must have at least 15 good long sleeve shirts now. But since I don't go out as much as never work in an office (I'll take one to meetings and co working just to feel a bit more professional) I just throw on a t shirt most days.

I don't see the problem with either short sleeves or rolling (done properly), but I wouldn't exactly wear short sleeves at a wedding.

Plus I have a limitless supply of t shirts since I make them anyway.

Also I'm a machinist some of the time so I'm not supposed to wear sleeves, they can get pulled into the machine and goodbye hand.
