I know this may belong in the football topic but I thought it was important enough to merit a dedicated topic.

The FA has received an offer of £800m for Wembley stadium and I was wondering if you think they should sell and if so what should they do with the money?
They have the option to build a new National Football Stadium or let the England team wander about the great stadiums we have and are about to be built and plough the money into grass roots football.

While I do think having a National Stadium is great having that sort of cash to spend on training facilities and coaches all around the country could really make a huge difference to the overall fitness of the nation so I'm on the selling side.

No I'd presume the FA make enough money out of it with events through the year to cover the cost of the stadium and invest into other parts of football.

Spoilers. Didn't even know they were considering it. This has ruined the sports section of the news for me.

It’s worth selling before it’s functional?

But it has so many toilets.
Those alone are worth a few hundred million.
I remember going to see Luton Town in the EFL Trophy a few years ago and we left just before half time to get a beer and the service was so terrible we managed to miss the first 5 mins of the second half. Yes, the Luton half was at max capacity but considering the other half was well over half empty they should have been able to manage.

even the toilets are badly designed. last NFL game i went to the queue for the toilets snaked across the entry to the stands and into the queue for the refreshments :dread:

NFL franchise?

So basically they're going to did and Jacksonville Jaguars and set up a London team instead that everyone from the US will have to visit once a year?

strawberry float I thought MK Dons was bad, and what about White Hart Lane's NFL plans?

The Tottenham plans will be unaffected as they have already signed contracts for games to be played there.

That’s a better argument than “it’s so functional!”

Am I right in thinking all this franchise talk is about having a permanent London-based NFL team?

Keep it and have a constant revenue stream

or

Take the cash and when that runs out you're left with strawberry float ALL.

Decisions, decisions.

Wouldn't be every team, there would be 2 pre-season and 8 normal games in the regular season and then 0-3 playoff games before the Superbowl depending on how the team did.

My point was enough money to cover the loan payments.

This just confuses the hell out of me, imagine Manchester United playing a bunch of league games in NY because the Premier League wants a US-based franchise.

If the popularity of the Premier League continues in the US, I think playing matches over there within the next decade is highly likely.
