£13 for the best game of the year is a bargain.

Not when its cheaper elsewhere.

So buy 14 games this month instead of 15 and you'll surely have £4 left over to afford this.

If I really wanted it I'd buy it on PC, but I've got too many other games to play, I'm not convinced its actually that good and I'm currently playing Volgarr the Viking anyway so I'm getting my retro kicks from that at the moment.

No point in buying it now then not playing it till after its been available at half the price.

Maybe you should go play Volgarr the Viking, you seem to be under the misconception its not very good.

I wasn't aware we weren't allowed to mention other games that are in some way related in a topic like this. Anyway you're the one that singled that out.

Just finished this, what a wonderful little game :)
It's a bit short but I have put over 10 hours into it.
Wasn't to impressed with the last level/boss but loved the one before that!

I see this on sale, now to decide which format?

Really tempted by the 3DS version purely for the 3D if it's any good.

Shovel Knight will be on sale in the Nintendo eShop from around 14:00 (UK) on Thursday. Both the U and the 3DS versions will be reduced from £12.99 to £8.66 until 8 January.

I'm normally really keen on platformer games but for some reason this didn't attract me. The apparent high level of difficulty (and 'floaty controls'?) put me off. Did I err in my thinking?

No floaty controls. Apart from the level set on the Propeller Knights Airship obviously.

I don't think it was on the sale, it's not discounted at all. Or did I miss it as well?

You missed it. They're being a bit tight with the discounts because it hasn't been out long on other platforms.

I'm opting for the Wii U version because it's easier to access Miiverse and post screenshots and notes.
