Why do sick kids need a Wii? When I was a sick kid, I was told to stay in bed and not play games :shifty:

You try staying in hospital for 11 months with nothing to do. I was lucky enough to have a Mega Drive on ward, later in the year we got a Super Nintendo, without those, I can't imagine how I would have got through that time.

If I saw this sooner, I would have contributed.

I was in hospital for four days when I was a kid and that was long enough, I had a Master System to play on though (on a B&W TV).

Also, I feel bad for not being able to donate, so I think I might pay for a game to go with the donated Wii.

Wii has been ordered!

And yes! You can still donate, sounds as though there's a lot of people who are still wanting to, so lets see how far we can go! :D

Can we get a massive GRcade logo pressed on the side of the Wii? Adverts FTW... :shifty:

No, unfortunately there wasn't even an option to add a message or anything, I guess paedos would use it to be evil.

I've got a Gamecube and a PS2. Thinking I might have to take them down to the childrens ward tot he hospital nearest to me. How do we know the consoles won't be stolen by some dick of a nurse or doctor? Seriously, people are strawberry floated up enough to actually steal from the kids ward.

Surely it's better to take that risk than to do nothing?

Might be worth giving them a call first, I know at Alder Hey they can't accept used items due to the risk of infections that could be on there and whatnot(It's on their site and Winckle mentioned it earlier in the thread). Obviously kids at Alder Hey are a lot sicker than kids at your average local hospital so they may have different policies, I know my mum used to give my stuff to our local hospital when I was a kid, but that was like 15-20 years ago..

In other news I contacted Childsplay to see what we'd have to do to become one of their registered sponsors listed on their homepage, they said we need to raise $2500 to become a silver sponsor.

Looks like we have a lot of saving to do!

That amount of donations could cover GRcade's costs for over 15 months.

Yeah, I think it might be beyond us. :( If we do manage it though we're amongst good company, Bungie and Google are also silver sponsors.

Do we have to raise that amount within a certain amount of time? Because if we made this thread a sticky (maybe removing the "Sick Kid Needs A Wii" bit), I'm sure eventually we can raise that. It would certainly generate a little publicity.
