Ugh, it seems like every TV show you watch these days spoils itself - that is to say that they play little clips of what is about to happen at the start of the episode and then some also do it throughout. I really hate how Dragon's Den did this - I just want to watch the show and not know what happens!

Another show I have noticed doing this is Motorway Cops. It seems like they don't have enough material to fill up a full hour, so they drop in these bits to use up some time. The first 1 minute 10 seconds of this week's motoway cops was spoilers/intro.

Does this annoy anyone else?

Makes me very very very Angry.

Watching The Ultimate Fighter Series at the moment, and every episode, they suddenly cut to "NEXT WEEK ON THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER, PABLO UPSETS VASQUEZ WHEN HE...etc" and I have to suddenly mad scramble for the remote to stop it.

24 was strawberry floating terrible for it as well I seem to remember, as well as Supernanny, who sho you a preview of what happens after the break, before the break....

I also hate it, when they advertise other programmes in the bottom of your screen during a show.

Honestly, I blame the Americans. I think they must have such short term attention spans.

livid

I find this annoying too. Comedy central for also play adverts throughout the week showing u what will happen in the next episode of most of their new shows, most of the time this spoils the endings too.

Yeh, that really annoys me with Dragons' Den too.

What I find more annoying though is the vast majority of programs on Channel 4, which show 5 minutes of footage and then spend the rest of the time telling you whats coming after the ad break, then recap what happened in that first bit for about 5 minutes of the next section before telling you again what's coming next!

All in all, you get about 15 minutes of TV spread out to an hour, constantly reminding us of what has and will happen, as if we all posess the mental capacity of a rock :x

Sometimes those things were pretty good though. I'm thinking of the one before the second part of the Mutiny arc, Adama seemingly gets executed. I almost shat myself with rage.

I never understood why shows like Soap Opera's gave away all their plotlines to womens magazines. Why do people watch those shows if they know a month in advance what the storyline is going to be?

I kinda like it when Doctor Who does it, because I like to be teased about the next episode.

You know what I strawberry floating hate about Dr Who though?

The distinctly Moffat-centric way that key episodes, especially end of season episodes or the second part of two parters, will often start in a complete fuck-fest of nonsense that bears no immediate resemblance or relevance to the events prior. So that, instead of thinking 'Yes! Endgame! This is what I've been waiting for!' you're instead thinking 'Wait, WTF is happening? Why are they running over the dam? Why are there pterodactyls? Who the strawberry float is that guy?!' until they lower themselves to an explanation 15 minutes in.

Balls to you.

US shows are the worst for it. Mythbusters would start off with a 'coming up in this episode' trailer, then before every break (about every ten minutes) would be another trailer, then when you get back from the break they show a recap of what happened earlier in case you forgot already. The show would be about 10 minutes long if they got rid of all the fluff.

I hate how overused 'Introduction - X hours earlier' is in TV. BSG did it all the time.

That's not really the same is it.

I think* Channel 4 showed the climax of Night at the Museum 2 in their ad for it the past week, but just covered it over with their "4" silhouette :fp:

*Not seen the film, but it looked pretty climactic...

Exodus Part 2 was terrible for it. They spent three episodes setting up this impossible situation for the colonials to win, then showed exactly how they win before the episode even started.

This is definitely an American influence. TV producers just assume viewers don't have the patience to keep watching, so have to "tease" (spoil) what's coming up. It's infuriating.

They were terrible, I ended up just skipping the intro out of fear of spoilers.

I hate it when menu screens on Blurays/DVDs give away key points of the film.

I think I only realized you're meant to watch those when I was at the third season :fp:

About spoilers, I think it's bad enough when they write the casting credits at the beginning, particularly the "guest starring" ones, as you can already guess a lot about what's gonna happen by knowing which characters are going to be present during a specific episode.

This is malignant for diapered cartoon girls crutches as well
