I just had a baked potato with mature cheddar on and it really was great.
Sometimes the best meals really are just that simple so what other super simple meals are available even a piss poor cook like me can try?

Anyone can make this dish and I guarantee that if you like the individual ingredients then the combination is a million times better. It's from Hugh F-W's book Three Good things.

Quarter some cherry tomatoes
Finely chop a garlic clove
Crumble some blue cheese
Pasta
Chilli flakes
good oil & seasoning

Mix the tomatoes with the garlic and oil. Add the chilli flakes and some salt and pepper then give it another stir and leave to one side for about half an hour.

Cook the pasta then mix with the tomatoes and add the blue cheese.

Dish it up…

Finish with a pinch of pepper and a little more cheese if you have it.

Cheese on toast. Bit of worcestershire sauce on top and you're good to go.

Also, ramen.

Not sure about grub - I'm *rubbish* at preparing any kind of food - but I do like how Peter always puts a full-stop at the end of his topic titles.

Everything in order and an eye for detail  .

Chilli, ridiculously easy meal to make but absolutely delicious. Same could be said for something like a Spaghetti Bolognaise, probably my main go to meals when I want to put something together in a hurry.

Chill and spagbol also get my vote, good for bulk cooking as well, you can make a big one of each and that's lunch/dinner sorted for the next day as well.

Ham, cheese and fried egg toasties always go down a treat.

As does smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, the eggs must be property done through, not the horrendous overcooked cavity wall insulation mess that a lot of people seem to like.

I tend to let my chilli, and bolognese, cook for as long as humanly possible...

I posted it on the food thread, but salmon teriyaki with asparagus and rice is stupidly easily and very healthy. Shame the price of salmon has shot up.

Same here, when I do them they get at least an hour or so of simmering.

Once or twice a year I will revert back to a few frozen school dinner-esque meals, such as baked beans, spaghetti hoops, waffles, chips, fish fingers...

Baked beans, cheese omelette and chips is always a good one.

Get some tortillas.
Swirl a thin amount of salsa/mayo around them.
Roll up (carefully not to push out contents)
Slice with a sharp knife into 1 inch little sections.
Flip on side - grill for a few minutes. (Add grated cheese if wanted)

Omelettes are very easy to make and very flexible in terms of what sort of extras you put in. I favour bacon and cheese but you can put almost anything in an omelette.

If you have a wok then stir frys are very easy to make too... speaking of woks I need to buy a new one after my cleaner stole the old one.

I agree. I had a stilton and mushroom omelette tonight and it was godly.

Oh yeah I'd agree with this but I guess I wasn't really considering simmering as part of the process of putting the meal together, just the amount of actual cooking that goes into it. Saying that I usually find them to be delicious straight from being cooked anyway, simmering just adds to it!
