Why is it so bloody dark in the CTU offices?

There must be a reason for it, but at the moment I can't work it out. It just allows the naughty ones to sneak about.

I get that it looks cool and mysterious, but that's a device for TV. Is there any proper reason for it?

Also, do they have a meeting when they first join where they learn not to say 'please' or 'bye' or other social stuff. I get that it's assertive, but I think I'd be a bit offended unless I knew that was 'protocol'. Nobody ever carries on talking on the phone not realising the other person has 'assertively' hung up.

Maybe there's an induction video. If there is, I bet there's no opening credits or introduction. It just launches into a list of do's and don'ts, just to get you in the mood.

I think I'm too sensitive/practical for all this spy business.

CTU aren't time wasters, they are all about speed and efficiency. They have terrorist threats to deal with, working against the clock at all times. They haven't got time so say goodbye after a phone call.

Do you think it's in their training, or did someone start it off? - a bit like not sending christmas cards round the office.

Sounds like something Mason would implement and it worked well so they stuck with it.

and remember that CTU's first assumption or action in a threatening situation is always wrong, instead trust the opinion of that guy Jack who pops up every time there's a threat to national security. if not him, the snotty cow that used to work in the old office on the otherside of the country.
